Reggie still has potential.... er... i think :o I'd keep Mitre. Even average pitchers have some value to a team. Major league quality depth is always nice to have available.

Why do you think the FO was trying to move him in a trade? It's because we have much more talent in the minors..... We'll have Carlos Martinez, Scott Tyler, Paul Mildren, Adam Bostick, Harvey Garcia, and Jesus Delgado who all have better stuff. Problem is only one of them has better stuff...Martinez...the rest have another year or more...my opinion Garcia and Delgado are not ready (only A), Mildren pitched well in the all star game and is 10-7 this year (has a career 3.85 ERA for a lefty in the minors). I would disagree with you about Bostick....I really like this lefty....Bostick's career stats of 448 IP, 434 H, and 493 K's prove he has good potential and at age 24 is ready for a shot in the bigs. August 15, 200619 yr We need a CF'er (Young and talented- not a hand me down from another team) and some bullpen help. To me CF is what is keeping the Marlins from being in the WC. Drop Moe and Mitre (No where to put Mitre). If one of our starters goes down we still have a few young ones who can take their place. So Moe and Mitre are really not needed on this team. Send down Reggie if he continues to make no progress. Keep Helms (Main PH'er), Fredo (Mostly used once/twice a week) and MAYBE Borchard. To me, it's the bullpen. How many times have solid outings from the starters been wasted because the bullpen blows up? I don't know if it will win them a WS but there is no question that this bullpen needs (almost) total reconstruction and those wasted leads and wins will go away. But I do agree, they need a solid center fielder, also.

I think Marlin closers have great success because of the South Florida heat. Jones has a 5.79 home ERA in a big pitcher's park. His 4.82 ERA and stats aren't great for a closer (46.2 IP, 52 H, 22 K). I guess he isn't having a bad year but I think that his success has more to do with the Tigers than him this year. Zumaya is the future closer. Last year Jones had a crazy year! Only 2 HR in 73 IP! ....and only gave up 61 hits and had a 2.10 ERA with 40 saves out of 45 opportunities.

Randy Messenger is still a tossup. He's really inconsistant......he's gotta get that 5.66 road ERA down.

Only because they rehab and strengthen their arm to a point stronger than it was before the injury.
