August 30, 200619 yr I have to say that the new HD screens and the middle screen (the screen that circle the stadium) have enhanced the experiece and overall enjoynment at the DS. I got gosebumps, when I saw Uggla's shot to upper deck and the words "Gonezilla!" flashing and circling the stadium screen. It was a nice touch. What do you think? Is the place a bit better now?
August 30, 200619 yr I love the middle screen around the stadium.... Gotta love when the train goes around when Dontrelle starts.
August 30, 200619 yr I like the electronic ring around the club-level now, it's about time we caught up with other venues in respect with that. The HD screen doesn't do much for me other than posting the pitch-counts, that's a huge plus, I just wish they'd show the replays in HD...

You'd think they would take advantage of those HD screens more for instant replays.
August 30, 200619 yr Dolphin Stadium was never a bad place to watch a game as far as I'm concerned. My main beef with it is the horrible football seating. :thumbup

They are still basically leanring how to utilize all the screens. They have gotten better every home stand. It wasn't until this last home stand that the ring was completed and they started to use that for more than just advertising. It is pretty cool. I like the sparks thing when players are introduced, most notably when Borowski comes into the game. I really like the big screens also. They don't show high lites of the other team but they do show most of the high lites of our team. Just like every other place. They have been doing more and better things each time the team arrives back home. For example, they now show the year's stats on the relief pitchers when they come into the game. I fully expect improvement at each home stand to continue. But let's not forget those toys, or eye candy, were not put there for us. The money Huizenga spent on stadium renovations has in part come from the tax breaks he got for the Marlins when he owned the team but that is now irrelevant. They are there for the Dolphins. We are just borrowing them for a few years. That is going to be one beautiful place for a football stadium when it is done. Kind of a shame it won't be completed by this Super Bowl.
August 30, 200619 yr Dolphin Stadium was never a bad place to watch a game as far as I'm concerned. My main beef with it is the horrible football seating. Isnt that kind of a big problem though? :confused Is it me or is the food getting worse at Dolphins Stadium? Im not asking for Filet Mignon but can I get a hotdog/hamburger that doesnt taste like a hockey puck? The hot dogs used to be tasty (especially the ones they had down in BB). If you pay an arm and a leg for food it should at least be slightly above average. end of rant
August 30, 200619 yr I like it, but I really have only sat in certain areas. The upper deck is useless then always. Unless you are going for a football game of course.
August 30, 200619 yr Dolphin Stadium was never a bad place to watch a game as far as I'm concerned. My main beef with it is the horrible football seating. Yeah, sucks when your seats don't face the plate (see: my seats in Section 403 for the entire '97 playoffs). But on the whole I've never really had any problems with the stadium.

Pretty good for stadium food, IMO.
August 30, 200619 yr I don't hate watching baseball at the stadium (the ballpark) but it still is a bad atmosphere in the sense that 20,000 people (when we have that many) still is dwarfed by the other 50,000 empty seats. Even 30,000 still has an empty feel. The openess of a real baseball park, the buzz that just hangs in the air is all so much a part of it. But to the credit of our fans, I do honestly say this, those that show get into it and make up for the some of the lack of quantity. I was recently in Safeco in Seattle for a game against the A's and there were 37,000 people on a Sunday. Big point in a 7-6 game, top of the ninth, two outs and the scoreboard is blasting out "MAKE SOME NOISE". The crowd gets riled up, no one stands up, and before the pitcher throws the scoreboard stops and everyone got quiet. It felt like the 3rd inning of a 0-0 game. This went on for every pitch. Same thing in the bottom of the 9th. The M's lost 7-6. My daughter and I both remarked at the same time-"can you believe how quiet it is". Still, give me the 37,000. We need the new park.
August 30, 200619 yr Meh, only half of the major league stadiums average more than 30,000 people per game. And I don't like being that claustrophobic when it's hot out. Roof, air conditioning.
August 30, 200619 yr i've only sat in the Infield Box and the Fish Tank, but i thought the seats were great in both areas. can't go to day games though. i burn like crazy. and yeah, i deffinately like the circling screen. and the HD aint too shabby.
August 30, 200619 yr I have no problem with the seating at Joe Robbie. I've learned to avoid the terrace box, and go with infield box or club seat or upper deck between the bases is also good. . . . The food has never been good, even compared to other baseball stadiums. But I agree the basic hot dog has gotten worse the last few years. It is definitely both the highest priced and the worst hot dog available anywhere. Those grilled hot dogs are barely acceptable. Overall, the food stinks. And it hurts when you have to fork over $20-30 for a couple of beers and what you know is a couple of lousy hot dogs. The food available at the pre-season Oriole games is far better. I blame Huizenga, mainly because he hasn't been blamed for anything in the last couple of weeks.
August 30, 200619 yr I avoid the food there at the stadium, although I get the chicken tenders for my son and he seems to like them. Buying $7 beers is bad enough. The hamburgers and hot dogs they sell don't look very appetizing. I remember though that the food used to be alot of better about 10 years ago when they allowed more outside vendor carts into the stadium. The arepas were great and they also had a kosher food stand called Sara's which had an awesome falafel sandwich. My pet peeve about the concessions is that they always seem determined to make you wait no matter what. Even when the crowd is small or its late in the game and not too many people are around, they'll close all the windows at the concession stand except one, so you still have to wait 5 minutes to get something.
August 30, 200619 yr I always get the chicken tenders, but I'll admit it's not work the 7.50 I have to fork over. (Costs $0.50 less than my ticket to the game) But rarely I'll get a good group of chicken tenders. Nothing else at that stadium looks nearly appetizing. Even the "snow cones" look like they have 1 ounce of flavoring syrup, I'd never waste my money on one of those for a kid. As far as the seating goes I always sit in outfield reserve. Sec 130 and 129 are the best for me. Seats are very cheap, and the view is great (just look straight ahead), plus homeruns are always hit where you sit, and if he's in the mood (hardly ever) Hermida might actually throw a ball to you.
August 30, 200619 yr lol, yeah those snow cones are so sorry looking that they don't even call them snow cones. They call them "snow balls" or something like that. I also bring in my own peanuts. You can buy a giant bag for $2 at Publix that's about 5 times as big as the one they sell in the stadium for $4.
August 30, 200619 yr worst fan experience this year at the stadium -- when the vendors in the stands were selling Red Sox caps during the Red Sox series of games
August 31, 200619 yr yeah it is pretty cool. but its pretty obvious that the Marlins were an after thought when they added the HD screens and the ribbon. it has Dolphins, Super Bowl, and Orange Bowl written all over it. It's not like its a secret.
August 31, 200619 yr Dolphin Stadium was never a bad place to watch a game as far as I'm concerned. My main beef with it is the horrible football seating. It's pretty bad when you r sitting behind homeplate and can't see plays around the fouline in the outfield :thumbdown
