stop whining about attendance. we dont care what you have to say for the thousandth time. stop beating a dead horse. we know how you feel, most of us feel the same way but,

we hear it from the papers

we hear it on the radio

we hear it in our play of work and/or school

we hear it from espn

our time watching the game shouldnt be filled with you two whining about what we already know.

tommy, you shouldnt expect fans to come out to the game went it just rained almost 5 inches of rain the last two days. that was very assanine of you (hell a lot of what you say lately is)

analyze the game and both teams on the field

thanks.

i understand what u mean, we all want to see those stands fill up. prolly will this coming weekend too considering the team and the weather should be alot better.

I completely agree with you and have mentioned it in a few of the recent game threads. Tommy especially feels the need to whine about it every .. single .. game. It's not helping anything.

I bet tommy hutton doesn't have to pay to come and watch a game..

Tommy Hutton gets paid to come and watch a game.

Yeah, its such a barbaric practice to try and force us to pay to watch professional baseball. The fact of the matter is there are some "fans" in South Florida that you couldn't pay to visit games because they'd be afraid it might rain.

I know! and on the road games he gets his meals and hotel expenses paid for also. he can't complain. he also doesnt' have to worry about rain, because he's in a press box.

i liked his "i know it's been raining all day, but the fans should know by now it always clears up before game time" comment.

does he really expect someone to drive to the stadium after it's been raining all day (because it has been raining all day for the last 2-3 days) to watch a game that might not get played or finished?

stfu old man.

jeez.

I've driven 200 miles, mostly in the rain, to watch the Marlins play, and it cleared up by game time. I'd rather have Tommy telling the people not going to the games who should be than pretending everything is rosy.

I have no problem with Tommy and Rich.. They should say it 1,000 times a telecast..

They speak the truth...

Thank You. Very well said.

You should send this in an e-mail to FSN Florida

I have no problem with it either. It's a damn shame.

Quad let's not pretend it's only on "rainy nights", eh? It's EVERY FREAKING NIGHT. Old man? Tommy Hutton's the best broadcaster this franchise has ever had.

He sits & watches this same thing, game after game. And he's a former player. It probably gets him miffed, as it should anyone else who cares about the team. You'd like him to just shut up & not mention the 6000 fans in the stands every night? Ok, it'll just be our little secret then. The 400 lb gorilla in the room that we never mention on TV because that would be a real downer.

Fans in South Florida are watching on TV and not coming to the games. They deserve every piece of ripping that comes their way. The sportswriters generally don't give a flip about the Marlins, they're only jumping on the wagon since this last winning streak. So it's pretty much Hutton & no one else doing it.

Doesn't bother me one bit.

For the people in the Chicago and Boston markets, we kinda got embarrassed with this no hitter. They were talking to Capozzi from the PBP in the 8th inning and the first question was "What is the atmosphere like there, are people aware of what's going on and is there excitement in the crowd?" and he goes "Well, it's funny because there are probably only 3 or 4 thousand people here..."

It rains in other cities too. I've defended the Marlins and their fans in other situations, but what the f*** makes South Florida so different from any other baseball city? Why do people go in droves to watch worse teams?

today and yesterday the rain excuse actually is very legit.

it's been raining like hell the last two days

It rains everywhere.

I spent $150 on opening day not including the 1/5th of a tank it takes me to get there... oh and the 2:30 hour drive time in traffic on the palmetto. i love Tommy, but pick your battles bub.

P.S. I forgot to mention the neck spasms i get after having my neck turned at a 90 degree angle for three hours. no thanks(and btw i love them so much i still go whenever i can spare a paycheck).

I have no problem with them mentioning this. You know how frustrating this must be to them? This isn't just their job. Guys like Rich and Tommy do what they do because they love the game. To see a team as special as the Marlins not get the support from the fans is so damn disappointing. Rich and Tommy have every right to mention it as much as they do and I don't blame them one bit.

I have no problem with a comment here and there. But he has done some ridiculous things, and has gone out of his way to point this out.

example "Well, the RF was able to get a good jump because the low attendance allowed him to hear the bat hitting the ball"

WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!

not 6 inches in two days.

especially when you consider the season ticket holder base is somewhere around 7k.

thats a lot of walk-ups.

lots of rain the last two days (6-10 inches in some places) + very dependant on walk-ups = very low attendance when it rains

spend a few days down here, youll learn the difference between south fla rain and cincy rain :thumbup

Cry me a river. I've switched my view on this subject.

The Marlins offer the same if not better value than most major league clubs, yet the fans show up for other clubs, and no one from South Florida goes to Marlins games.

Amen.

There could be picture-perfect weather, 75 degrees outside, and it wouldn't make any difference.

They don't come.

Ok enough focusing on negatives, I'm going to go get plastered. :thumbup

What would our attendance be like if Rich and Tommy didn't beg people to go to the games.

Earlier this year we had kind of a mini-draught. It didn't rain for a few weeks and attendance was even worse then.

These young Marlins are doing a fantastic job this season, people should go and watch.

Rich and Tommy can talk all they want because its true.

And btw Tommy may be getting old but in my opinion he is one of the best announcers in baseball. I think an announcer SHOULD be emotionally involved with the team that he announces for.

And they shouldn't bitch about attendance???
