Miami-FIU Fight: Teams Suspend 31

Featured Replies

ok, here is the thing for me...i dont condone the fighting and im glad to see that deserving players were suspended...but this is exactly what miami needed...yeah...ok...i went there...they needed this...FIU came into the orange bowl and tried to disrespect miami football...that is unacceptable...untolerable...recruits of miami football should see that "58 home game winning streak" and see the blood, sweat, effort, and passion that went into that...these guys arent thugs(for the most part), they are just a bunch of under achievers and maybe now, current and future hurricanes will realize that miami football isnt about winning close games and being friendly with the opponent...its about god damn kicking some ass, banging hot chicks and going to the NFL...if you dont want to do that, then go to some pansy ass football school and have a nice career as a shmuck

Congratulations, you have officially ascended to the top of my "worst posters" list.

This is an embarrassment for both teams involved. At least the FIU coach has the right idea to suspend everyone severely and Coker will likely give out one-gamers versus Duke. I hope they underestimate Duke and get spanked.

congrats...i dont give a ****...look...im not going to start anything with you...but FIU started the fight...miami finished it...they didnt let the JV team come in and push them around...im not proud of the players who did fight...but im proud of the players who didnt just stand there with a finger up their rear end either...this is miami football...you kick ass, takes names and have alot of fun doing it...this is about the swagger, this is about winning, this is pride to wear that U that so many greats have before them...and this isnt basketball...duke is gonna pray for prison sentences just to get away from the fury that miami football will be returning to

Are you that announcer from last night?

YOU DONT COME INTO THE OB TALKING THAT STUFF

haha...no...im not lamar smith or whoever it was...but i love college football...I love the U...i love the watching the U put fear into the hearts, minds and souls of their opponents...i use the term war lightly actually being in a war...but every college football game is as important as winning the war for the BCS...if you dont have that "fight" and hunger in you, you are going to lose...and miami doesnt like losing football teams very much...so they have to bring it each and every time they are out there...and they brought it...FIU started it, we finished it...they stood together as a family(and did some foolish things) but at least they stood together...and while it probably wont happen like this...but say...MIAMI wins out the rest of this year...and goes onto win a championship next year...and as we look back...is this fight still really that embarrassing or is it more inspiring that the canes took a stand

So what are the Hurricane apologists going to say about today's fiasco??? and how did Riddick not get kicked out of the game for using his helmet as a weapon.

Sounds like FIU started it... :whistle

I don't think this is going to help the Canes' reputation.

If the canes didnt have a single penalty or problem for the next 20 years nothing will change the reputation. The media will make them out to be the bad guys no matter what.

Honestly I dont care if they do. I like being the guy everyone is afraid to play, that has the attitude, just get some players and back it up.

Temple has fans?

Any real Canes fan knows how much of an embarassment it is to be involved in a melee, much less against an insignificant football program. This is not the Gator Flop, this is the FIU freakin' Golden Panthers.

Yeah, really, nothing like fighting with FI-freaking-U to put fear into the hearts of our opponents. I'm sure teams like Georgia Tech watched those highlights and ran for the hills. We sure are badasses.

i understand what your saying about it being FIU but they slammed down Perrelli AND KICKED HIM in the face after already punching him in the face. whats suppose to happen after that? seriously

What I don't understand is why they were celebrating like they won a bowl game after they scored against the FIU defense.

people like me are the real canes fans...i live up here in massachusetts dealing with new england's BS all year round...im proud of the school and how they have dealt with those who deserved to be suspended...however...im proud of those players who thought enough of their fellow teammates to fight for their honor...and as a real hurricane fan...the two losses we suffered are much more embarrassing than getting into a fight...and who cares who the melee happened against...i dont care if its the bears, the colts, the blue devils, the eagles or whoever, if a team comes into the orange bowl with that level of disrespect, then they deserve to have their asses handed to them...

I don't care who started it, but it takes two to tango. Both teams are at fault.

We saw one guy kick Ned, our guy on crutches, on the back of the knee. I don't know if Ned started it or not, but that is a very cowardly thing to do.

I don't think people are placing all the blame on UM. It's just that no one cares about FIU.

That right there is exactly why the fight happened. For a young program to have to play against teams that obviously think they can just show up and win is disrespectful. You play the game, and you play it right. You don't come in acting like you are king of the world, especially when you are just as unranked as we are. UM's players have no respect for anyone, including their school, and it showed last night. I'm not condoning what FIU did at all, but it is certainly understandable for their players to want to be taken seriously, and while this may not help them, it certainly showed UM to take them seriously, as they proceeded to actually play football after that.

thats bulls***, FIU spent the entire night trying to get under Miami's skin including during the pre-game warmups and are ultimately responsible for what happened lastnight.

That is normal trash talking, and was no worse than what happens in most games. But since the Canes played like they didn't even see FIU as real opponents, it escalated.

Wow, Carmen. I am glad you're okay. The whole situation was just crazy. I was in the L section, by the FIU band.

Thanks. It was an interesting experience. I wish I was close to the band, I couldn't hear them that well during the game :(

I think it was a huge mistake to put the FIU student section by the UM general admission section. I bet they change that next year. Our section was alright.

I am not defending the actions of any FIU player involved, but you shouldn't talk about coming to a team's stadium and disrespecting them. Look what happened to you guys at Louisville this year.

It's still embaressing, and will seem even more embaressing when you look back and realize that your favorite team is a joke with no real playmakers on offense with the exception of James.

You are such a joke, it's not even funny. Did you go to UM? Because if you did, that says alot about their educational standards.

well, is FIU a real opponent? No disrespect to any FIU fans here, but I sure dont think so

theyre 15-29 all time and have been in D1 for 3 years. why should one of the best football programs in the last 20 years, with 5 national titles, show any respect to FIU?

you say that youre just as unranked as UM is. not really...becuase theres a big difference between 4-2 in the ACC and winless in the Sun Belt

But they are still a D-1 school. They shouldn't have to put up with the disrespect the Canes were showing them. The Canes just did not come in prepared to play the game, because they assumed all they had to do was show up and win. And, yeah they won pretty handily, but FIU did lost their 2 best offensive playmakers and alot of defensive guys, so really, they scored 14 points against the FIU defense and then 21 on their second team. FIU played them almost even in the first half.

they assumed correctly. theyre better than FIU, they acted like it, and they shut them out

who cares if theyre in D1? they havent done anything and received all the respect they deserved. FIU will just have to be big guys and take the disrespect

FIU came into the game with their hopes up and trying to make a statement to the nation that they can play ball. They probally got that idea from watching the Houston game. FIU tried to come in and play tough and contend thats not a problem and they should be praised for it however they need to learn discipline.

Did you go to UM? Do you have any connection to it whatsoever than as a sports fan? Its not embarassing to lose to Louisville, a national title contender, and to lose to FSU, a school with about an equal talent level. Its embarassing to have your team look like a riotous mob with stomping on people's heads and then JUMPING AROUND, CELEBRATING LIKE THEY JUST WON THE NATIONAL TITLE. Thats embarassing.

I don't think you understand, man. You just don't come into the Orange Bowl and talk. They deserve to have their heads stomped on.

THAT is what the U is all about.

I think I just saw myself on the news... They showed a clip of a cop yelling at an FIU fan, and I think I was standing behind him. Weird.

When your ranked you can stipulate who can talk trash. Funny thing is that last night will have contained the most celebrating all season for the canes and they beat a 0-7 team.

The reputation factor is adding to Miami receiving all the blame for this.

yeah but that guy shouldnt have been out on the field swinging his crutches like a weapon.. if you ask me that is more cowardly than getting kicked in the back of the knee..
