October 6, 200322 yr that is awesome mattymo Yeah... I liked it too. I stole that logo from one of my friends on the Cards forum. I don't think he'll mind though. This is one thing that Cardinal and White Sox fans have in common..... their hatred for the Scrubs.

October 6, 200322 yr -Earlier this year, when our record wasn't so great, they kept saying that we should just go ahead and give Lowell to them, because then he would be able to play for a playoff contender. The Chicago media acted like the "pathetic" Florida Marlins owed it to the long-suffering Cubs, Cub fans and Lowell himself to trade him to "a contender." None of them understood why he wasn't being traded ... isn't everyone, deep down, a Cubs fan? Doesn't everyone want to see the Cubs win?

I wish the Sox commercials here would be more like that. All they are is something like: "Rodriguez and the Rangers take on Ordonez and the Sox tonight at 7 PM. Pre-Game at 6:30." They'd be so much better if they used something like this: "A-Rod may be good, but for 42 times the price, he's no better than Lee Majors. See Texas take on your Sox in a great showdown at the Ballpark in Arlington." Something like that.

With 3 teams contending for the Wild Card/Central within the last 2 weeks of the season, i believe its hardly a weak division. The Central potentially has the Cy Young and MVP. Records dont mean anything as the Cubs beat the Braves, and the Marlins beat the Giants...A reason why the Marlins, Cubs, Astros, and Cardinals didnt have as good of records as the Braves and Giants is because of competition within the division...If the Marlins played Atlanta better, records would even out...The Cubs, Astros, and Cardinals all had to play eachother a bunch of times this season which leveled out the playing field...In other words, what im saying is records dont matter, and the Central is not a weak division

As a Cardinal fan I'd love to be able to say the NL Central ISN'T a weak division, but the stats say otherwise. Look at their record against the other divisions. NL Central vs. NL East 88-104 NL Central vs. NL West 85-101 You also mentioned that the NL Central had 3 teams in the Wild Card race uuntil the end. That's true, but so did the other divisons. The difference is the other two divisions had a team that was clearly better than the Wild Card teams (Braves and Giants). The NL East had The Marlins, Phillies, and Expos in the Wild Card race. The West had the Dodgers and D-Backs in the Wild Card race. The NL Central had 3 very bad teams (Brewers, Reds, and Pirates). No other division had three teams this bad. The Astros, Cards, and Cubs hsould have padded their record by beating these teams, but it still didn't help. There's no logic to suggest that the NL Central was anything but weak. The facts prove it.
October 6, 200322 yr Expos and D Backs werent anywhere near the Wild Card when it mattered...for the last 2 weeks it came down to Astros, Cardinals, Cubs, Marlins, Phills...The Dodgers may have been there, but they slowly faded like the Cardinals and really werent a factor except for playing spoiler...and fine, put Florida in the Central...So they win the Central...but the Cubs win the Wild Card and still play the Braves in the first round...Im not saying by any means the Central is great...the East by far is the best Division in baseball, with the only bad spot being the Mets...but in the West, San Diego and Colorado is god awful...let me remind you that the Central also has six teams, and it so happens that Pittsburgh is in the Central and not the East, which easily could be that way...

NL Central average winning percentage: .486 NL East average winning percentage: .528 and for those who say "Oh, those bottom feeders bring down the average (which isnt really a valid argument considering we are discussing which DIVISION is weaker), I'll show you the median winning percentage... NL Central median winning percentage: .494 NL East median winning percentage: .531 4 of 5 teams in the NL East finished with a winning percentage of over .500 (80% of the division). 3 of 6 teams in the NL Central finished with a winning percentage of over .500 (50%). only 1 NL Central team had a winning record against the NL East (the Cardinals went 17-13 against the NL East). 3 NL East teams had winning records against the NL Central (the Braves went 27-12, Philly went 21-18, and Montreal went 20-16). So, tckicehouse, I don't know if you are a poor Cubs fan, or if you are a NL Central enthusiast, or if you are just trying to stir up trouble...but whatever you are trying to do (somehow show that the NL Central is better than the NL East this year), you are failing miserably. And no one likes a failure (well, I guess Cubs fans do...for 95 years).

If the Cards were in the East, they would have finished 4th. How can you be so sure of this statement? As you previously mentioned the Cards are the only team of the three that had a winning record against the NL East. If these 3 teams played more games against the NL East it's very possible that the Cards would have finished ahead of the Astros and Cubs.
