Kanye West's Latest Tantrum

Featured Replies

I like his music. I think he's very talented, but he seriously needs to get over himself.

COPENHAGEN, Denmark (AP) ? Rap star Kanye West was named Best Hip Hop artist but still came off as a sore loser at the MTV Europe Music Awards.

Kanye apparently was so disappointed at not winning for Best Video that he crashed the stage Thursday in Copenhagen when the award was being presented to Justice and Simian for "We Are Your Friends."

In a tirade riddled with expletives, Kanye said he should have won the prize for his video "Touch The Sky," because it "cost a million dollars, Pamela Anderson was in it. I was jumping across canyons."

"If I don't win, the awards show loses credibility," Kanye said.

This is what... the 3rd or 4th time he whines about not winning an award?

Kanye's breakout hit was nothing without the Chaka Khan sample he generously peppered throughout the track.

He needs to check himself and his larger than life ego at the door of the next awards show he goes to.

Kanye's breakout hit was nothing without the Chaka Khan sample he generously peppered throughout the track.

I don't recall "Jesus Walks" having a Chaka Khan sample.

And I'm not sure what him sampling Chaka Khan 3 or 4 years ago would even have to do with him having a tantrum about his video for "Touch the Sky" not winning the 2006 MTV Europe awards.

Although I do agree he thinks too highly of himself, but he's also the most talented artist in hip hop today, so it's not completely out of nowhere.

I LOVE KanYe, but yeah, the arrogance is a turn off. It's also what's gotten him to the level he's at though.

"Through the Wire" was also rapped in a hospital bed through a wired-shut jaw that was broken in three places. With some witty and clever lyrics... The beat was great, but the sample was just a PART of it... Hip hop samples old stuff all the time. Doesn't make it less good.

His arrogance IS annoying though. He's very very good. And he knows it. And he tells people about it... He should've won two Album of the Year Grammy's by now, if not for the sympathy Ray Charles vote, and the humanitarian nod to U2 last year.

Your right. Through the wire had the Chaka Khan sample. Jesus Walks has a sample from The Arc Choir. Regardless Jesus Walks was ghostwritten by Rhymefest. Kanye is a chump.

Here's an article from Perez Hilton (www.perezhilton.com) that has Kanye's quotes included.

Confidence is sexy. Arrogance is such a turn-off.

Kanye West is undoubtedly talented, but he needs to get his dick out of his mouth and put it back up his ass, where it belongs!

The Chicago rapper was nominated for a few MTV Europe Music Awards, held Thursday night in Copenhagen, and when he lost in the category for best video Kanye stormed the staged and unleashed a verbal tirade unbecoming of a gentleman.

As winners Justice and Simian collected their award for We Are Your Friends, West stole the spotlight and started screaming.

He yelled: "f*** dis! (My video) cost a million dollars, Pamela Anderson was in it, I was jumping across canyons and sh*t! If I don't win, the awards show loses credibility. Nothing against you (Justice and Simian), but hell man."

It only got worse from there!

Even worse than his hubris was Kanye's ignorance.

He spouted, "I haven't seen (the Justice and Simian video). Possibly it could have been quite good but no way better than Touch The Sky. That is complete bulls***, I paid a million. Obviously it's not all about the money, but the response it got transcended everything, it really made great TV. It took a month to film; I stood on a mountain; I flew a helicopter over Vegas. I did it to be the king of all videos and I wanted to walk home with that award."

Justin Timberlake, the awards show's host, maintained a sense of humor about West's unacceptable behavior, joking, "After the show, Kanye will be in the parking lot accepting awards he did not win. Seriously though, I've got sexy covered, it's good to see someone's doing crazy."

Keep it real JT!

Before he ended his tirade, Kanye implored journalists "Please press people print 'Kanye says f*** that!'"

We hope Kanye likes our headline better!

i dont understand how these idiots become famous

by being a really talented hip-hop artist

:lol That's questionable.

Kanye sucks.

i didnt think "talented", "hip-hop" and "artist" were allowed to be in the same sentence.

Lyrically speaking, good hip hop is probably the most challenging to do of all music.

Now, don't confuse the radio "bling bling bitches yo yo riches" movement with good hip hop. Thank you.

And he's being serious. Isn't he great folks?

Lost in all this is Justin Timberlake making a funny joke.

Thats because "Jesus Walks" was not his breakthrough hit. :thumbup

"Through The Wire" was.

Either way, that has nothing to do with this tantrum.

Of course he samples. He's never denied it. He embraces it.

Let me hold your hand through this:

My point is, he's a no-talent cry baby.

Without the hook he "sampled" in his breakout hit, Through The Wire. his career is nothing. NOTHING.

He's one of the most celebrated producers in all of music. He has made hits for tons of people. I really don't think it was a Chaka Kahn sample that blew his career into the atmosphere, as much as being hyped by every single important hip hop artist in the world as "the next big thing". You act as if he sampled "Thriller" or something. For most people of this generation, "Through the Wire" is much more well known than "Through the Fire". It's not the same situation as "I'll Be Missing You" taking "Every Breath You Take", which is one of the most well known songs around.

You are basically writing off an entire genre of music by saying that sampling somehow makes you a no talent reject. That's pretty damn closeminded. I suppose Beck's entire career is nothing without his samples throughout "Loser" and "Where It's At", huh?

I happen to respect Jay Z and his use of samples. More importantly, I dont see Jay Z rushing the stage of an awards show, showing up the people who are on stage and making an a** of himself.

Lets agree to disagree because Im not going to see this your way.

He may think too highly of himself, but if he thinks he was robbed, then at least he's not giving this PC sh*t like "oh i'm just happy to be nominated", or some bulls*** praising the winner when they don't mean it...that gets annoying after awhile
