So with Sammy Sosa looking like he is going to make the Rangers, one of either Brad Wilkerson or Nelson Cruz will not make the 25 man roster.

We all know about Brad Wilkerson but Nelson Cruz would certainly look good out there in CF. He is 27 and last year hit .302/.378/.528 in AAA. His career in the minors is .292/.359/.499

definitely worth a look, especially with the meh that we have roaming CF right now

I like your thinking Ramp, Cruz may be the guy to be available, Rangers say he has all the potential you wish to see in a young player. That means it is untapped as of yet

If that's the case, we'd probably have to give up a couple good pitchers, cause God knows Texas needs pitching. And let's face it, Sosa is a one year rental, so it would make sense if Texas does decide to hold on to this CFer for one more year. But like I said, i'm sure we could work something out with all the great pitching we have.

The most entertaining thing about this time of year is Reed Is Master is at his most prominent.

There is always great signature material floating around this time of year.

Is this something that you made up or do you have reason to think it might be real?

Because I like the Cruz idea.

Well the idea of them being available wasn't made up, but as of this posting, I haven't heard a word about our interest in either.

I have also considered that Norris Hopper might also be a viable target for trade. He played very well last season after his call-up by the Reds. This would allow Denorfia to stay in the Majors. Hopper has hit over .300 everywhere he has played.

In the moment I wonder not so much about particular possible players but rather how Beinfest and company go about keeping tabs on what has to be twenty, thirty or more possible CFer would are for one reason or another are on the cusp of being released, traded or sent down in the next 10-14 days.

I don't know about anyone else but I'd love to be a fly on the wall. In fact for some amateur filmmaker it would probably make a helluva documentary. Too bad the system doesn't allow for that.

If we don't bring in a CFer, the person who wins the job should have "MEH" stitched on his back.

Sorry, Ramp saying meh made me think of it...

Cruz is going to start in RF for the Rangers and Wilkerson in left. Neither are going anywhere. Sosa will be a part-time DH, nothing more....nothing less.

I'll take Wilkerson anyday.

I second that,i've always like Wilkerson..Brad has speed, can cover some ground and he can hit.

Where will Frank Catalanotto play?

I see BJ Upton has been playing more outfield lately. Are the D-Rays tryng to showcase him as ST ends? I am a little surprised because japanese guy hasn't hit a lick this spring

The Rays are playing Upton everywhere so that they can have him as their super utility man. I don't think they are confident in having him play third defensively on a fulltime basis.
