Posted April 4, 200718 yr Julio stinks. but further more, what is he still doing in there after giving up those runs and walks? I'd love to hear Fredi on this one
April 4, 200718 yr :lol :lol :lol :lol I think it's safe to say "told you so" (not you Ramp, or Penguino).
April 4, 200718 yr can't remove trust from your closer after one game Leaving him in, is the right call. sink or swing. a couple of more blown games early on, and you would see a demotion
April 4, 200718 yr I thought he would be good this year but after today I realized that garbage will always be garbage.
April 4, 200718 yr We should have scored at least 10 runs with all the chances we had. And yeah, that gives Julio 13 runs in about 10 innings including spring training. But I huess h i still working on his pitches like he claimed. He's experimenting...
April 4, 200718 yr JULIO IS A PURE PIG!!!! He didnt look good during the opener and just stunk today... Guy is a disgrace... He wont be with us by the end of this season.. BOOK IT! And how I felt about this trade when it happen, check that post...
April 4, 200718 yr After Julio gave up the lead, it was clear it wasn't his day and it was time for him to leave the game. Instead we had to see him give the game away to the worst team in the league.

April 4, 200718 yr the honeymoon's over for Freddi. gotta yank the guy when he's getting shelled like that. Everyone in our bullpen pitched fine except for freaking Julio. I don't agree with annointing him the closer without proving he can get outs. This isn't Billy Wagner we brought in here. even against the bottom of the order he couldn't do anything. hell the only out he got was on a sac bunt. why was Nolasco warming if he wasn't going to be used? not enough time? that just really pisses me off. I don't give a crap if it's the 3rd game of the season or the 150th. You can't have that win back and at the end of the season you never know when one game could make the difference in a playoff race. :bangdesk On the positive side, we're scoring runs.
April 4, 200718 yr Fredi pulling him would have been a very very stupid idea.. not just towards julio but the rest of the guys in the pen.
April 4, 200718 yr Author Fredi pulling him would have been a very very stupid idea.. not just towards julio but the rest of the guys in the pen. explain
April 4, 200718 yr i blame fredi for this loss. not having anyone warming up after you see your "closer" struggling is poor managing. i think we're in going to see a few bumps in the road this year as fredi has to learn how to manage on this level.

April 4, 200718 yr Hey it sucks, but its just one loss. Expect anywhere between 70-90 losses for this team. Its to early to trash Julio on just one game. Burnett allowed 6 runs in 2 innings for the Jays, and Schilling allowed 6 runs in 4 innings against KC. Lets just see what happens next time.

April 4, 200718 yr Julio stunk, but I started getting a bad feeling about the game when De Aza was on 3rd with one out and didn't score in the 9th. You can't away runs like that and win. As for Julio, I don't blame Fredi. It's the 3rd game of the season. You can't say the guy is your closer and then yank him at the first sign of trouble. Looking back at the inning he gave up 2 bloopers and an error. Not to say it wasn't a disappointing performance, but i'm not going to jump off a bridge just yet.
April 4, 200718 yr Just terrible. I expected him to blow this game and he did. The pen was doing great until Juilo came along (ST and Reg season)
April 4, 200718 yr Author Girardi would have yanked his ass.....strike one there fredi please. and why bring up girardi, who gives a crap?
April 4, 200718 yr Well why don't we overreact like we always do after a loss. It's one game people. My god I'm surprised no one started a fire Fredi thread yet. The passion on this board is great but FFS it's game 3. You can't show your closer you lost faith in him after ONE GAME. can't remove trust from your closer after one game Leaving him in, is the right call. Very well put brotha. :thumbup

April 4, 200718 yr Fredi pulling him would have been a very very stupid idea.. not just towards julio but the rest of the guys in the pen. explain The guy who we named our closer... yes, pull him after one game. Then when Owens becomes the closer and he gets a guy on, its always nice to have the thought in the back of your head that the skip has no trust in you. And Nolasco warming? Seems like a throwing session to me that would have happened no matter the score. hey, i dont want julio as the closer either.. but come on people, you all look like blabbling, chicken little idiots. Its the 3rd game of the season!!!

Something I don't see much from you, after 3-4 years. 2 of the hits were bloop balls, you don't yank your closer after the first game at the begining of the season. I don't think any MLB manager would do that.
