August 5, 200719 yr very cool story right there Trevor Hoffman's longtime bullpen catcher Mark Marella is fighting cancer, so Trev said if he caught it, he would sell the ball and then give the money to Marella Nikolai Bonds, Barry's son, is hoping to get the ball back from the guy who caught 755 and sell the ball and give it to Marella

Top ten yeah probably, but hell I'll take a healthy Griffey over Bonds any day. Lol. Bonds hit for more power, walked more, had more speed, played better defense (he's arguably the greatest defensive left fielder ever, something you can't say for Griffey in CF, great as he was), hit for a better average, grounded into less double plays, was hit by more pitches and has better numbers in just about every other concievable category. It's not even close. Griffey was always more popular, but he's not even playing the same game as Bonds.
August 5, 200719 yr I like that Dave O'Brien got the game call. Does someone have a link to what he said?

Good luck getting the ball back though.

Honestly, if I caught 756 I would give it to Bonds and wouldn't think twice about it. The man deserves it and its HIS history. I'd just maybe ask for a signed bat and ball.
August 5, 200719 yr I'm not liking what we are seeing from Bud. Why even be there. You are the comissioner of the game, and no matter what you feel about him, it's not that hard to swallow your pride and applaud. It makes the game look bad. It's so hard being the commissioner. He obviously feels guilty that he all but endorsed steroid use in the late 90's and is now reaping what he sowed.
August 5, 200719 yr if it were me, i'd probably give it back and ask for like 10% or something greed is evil...

I'm as big a Bonds fan as they come, but I would sell that ball immediately...being set financially for life would be too much to turn down

In my opinion there is no one to blame but Selig and MLB officials. They knew exactly what was going on and cared to look the other way while the crowds were starting to fill the seats again after the strike.
August 5, 200719 yr C'mon. Let's just say the ball is worth $500,000. If I caught it I'd put it up for auction. If Bonds wanted to buy it fine. If the HOF wanted to buy it fine. If some collector wanted it, fine. Whoever's the highest bidder can have it, and after I collect my proceeds I'll consider giving a part to the bullpen catcher and/or some family dealing with a child they've lost due to steroids a piece of the proceeds. But no way I'm giving up the ball for next to nothing. Are you people really serious that you'd give away that much money?
August 5, 200719 yr I'd give it to Barry ask for a bunch of signed stuff, 2 seats saved for me in the front row for his induction ceremony to the HOF and 4 front row season tix to the team of my choosing for the next 20 years
August 5, 200719 yr Bonds greatest of all time? No way. Top ten yeah probably, but hell I'll take a healthy Griffey over Bonds any day. I don't think Bonds is the greatest of all time either, but be real. The man is a 7 time MVP with 2 batting titles and can hit circles around Griffey. At the current rate, ARod should be passing him in 5 or 6 years so enjoy your hollow title when you finally hit your next one, Barry Lamar.
August 5, 200719 yr Watched games all week, and the one I don't watch he hits it. Figures. Congrats Barry.
