But I do agree that the Giants and Bonds will do everything they can to make sure he hits 755 and 756 at home. If anything, Barry may play, but he won't be swinging for the fences.

What a team player. That's just my guess dude. Watching the Reds/Giants series, the Reds broadcasters thought the same thing, saying he's such a great hitter that if he wanted to limit himself to hitting singles and doubles, he could restrain himself. With the Giants 10 games out already, I don't think it really matters much anyways. I hope we're closer to, or at, .500 at that point, but unfortunately I don't see it happening.. But I wouldn't have a problem with it either way. Barry Bonds can help a team win without hitting homeruns...

July 20, 200719 yr As much as all the veterans around here know how much I hate Barry, I will say this: when he says that "just about everybody actually wants to see this, no matter what they say", he is 110 percent right. There are some people like me who are sad this is happening to Hank's record, but I'd say 9 out of every 10 fans are there when he's on the road, and clapping when he hits the home run, and throwing back a fake baseball to keep the real one like the kid did at Wrigley on the 2nd bomb yesterday, and of course everybody in SF is excited. So he is for sure right about that.

July 24, 200719 yr Yeah he's not shouldering any sort of pressure. Clearly I am not comparing the pressure he's under to the racism Aaron had to face. If you need to be reminded of my feelings on Aaron, all you have to do is check out one of my earlier threads regarding the John Rocker incident. With that said, Bonds is facing a media and legal storm unparalleled in MLB history. This is also a problem that is not going to just go away. His legacy will follow his legend ? it?s that simple. There is nothing Bonds can do at this point to make everything better.
