4/9/07: Brewers at Marlins

GAME INFO:

MILWAUKEE BREWERS (3-3) AT FLORIDA MARLINS (4-2)

Starting Pitchers: Jeff Suppan (0-1, 2.57) vs. Anibal Sanchez (0-0, 6.35)

TV: RADIO: | XM184

Scouting Report:

Brewers: The highest-paid player in club history had a Jekyll-and-Hyde debut for the Brewers, slogging through the first three innings against the Dodgers in 63 pitches, 33 strikes, then breezing through the next three frames on 18 pitches, 16 strikes. In all he worked seven innings, allowing two runs on seven hits and three walks, a respectable start to a four-year, $42 million contract. He is 3-2 with a 3.04 ERA in nine career starts against Florida, including 3-0 with a 2.01 ERA at Dolphin Stadium.

Marlins: In his first start, Sanchez cruised along until two outs in the sixth. At that point he gave up three straight hits, including a three-run homer to Ryan Church. In line for a win that day, Sanchez instead settled for no decision in a game after a five-run lead slipped away. Sanchez believed he didn't alter his pitch sequence enough in the sixth inning, which he says was a reason he ran into some trouble. The 23-year-old threw 91 pitches at Washington, and he didn't walk a batter, although he allowed 10 hits.

I'd love to see De Aza get a chance at leading off while Hanley rests today

I was thinking the same thing yesterday during the game. In fact I emailed the question to askthemarlins@fsnflorida.com. I do not think Rich and Tommy read it on air.

Amazing how both of these teams are just packed with young talent!

2-1 should be our goal for the series.

However, didnt we go 7-0 against them last year?

yep, and I think we have won our last 9 vs them

we dont face sheets and capano...i think that gives us a good shot at a sweep.

p.s.

mckeons method to winning was telling the guys to set a goal of 2 wins a series or 5 a week. i think 2-1 would be acceptable.

good thing julio is pitching tonight, but hes getting the ball tomorrow if a save situation arrives.

Let's go Marlins!

Say what you want about Samson, but finishing a triathlon is not easy and I applaud him for that.

I HATE when managers put rookies in the 8th spot in the NL. Hardest spot in the lineup to hit.

well it just so happens to be a rookie manager as well

LOL.

watching marlins pregame...

craig just said "we talked with counsell before the game" and it went to a little clip and it was in milwaukee. so unless they flew to mil. this weekend and asked him about florida, this was a clip from last year or something.
