Attendance

Featured Replies

Damn screaming kids tested my sanity.

For real. I left my fish tank seats after 1 inning and moved behind first base to get away.

I was surprised we got over 20,000 fans at today's matinee game vs the Dodgers.

Yeah, what was that all about?

Thursday, May 10

May 10 vs. Los Angeles - 12:05 PM

Weather Day

Come join students from across the Tri-County area for a pre-game educational weather program. Contact Charles Sano at 305-626-7276 for more information.

Students probably got discounted tickets....

Shh!! Don't tell anyone from Oklahoma about the attendance problems!

They've constantly berated N.O. about the Hornets attendance, simply because they want them to stay. Well, boo effin hoo for Oklahoma -- the team is back here now.

The Marlins and Hornets both have cheap owners, for one. We were last in the league in 04-05 when the team went 18-64, and a Final Four college team could have beaten them. We got Chris Paul, lost all the Charlotte players, and then sales started flying during the Summer of 2005. That all gets lost because of Katrina.

The team plays 6 games in NO this season... one a month... and we sell out 3 or 4, and come close on the others. The Okie press (worst newspaper in America in 1999 says Columbia), and their fans slam NO again for that. One game a month, no advertising, who knew except the diehards?

The team is coming back, and season ticket sales are reportedly doing well.

Didn't they try to take a swipe at the Fish too? Then again, they have NOTHING to do in the ugly brown open plains, unlike Florida and NO. Scroo them.

good, maybe some of those kids will whine for their parents to bring them back for more games.

Exactly what the Fish had in mind. :mischief Outcome of the game made baseball fans out of more than a few of those kids.

I actually snuck home for an extended lunch from work , and got to see the last 3 innings what is funny about the comment winning the kids over as fish fans i think most of them didnt even see Willigham's walk hr because fsn i think it was the 8th inning showed students mass exiting the stadium i guess come hell or high water the bus leaves at 2pm

All things considered, they got to see a large chunk of that game. Mitre and Lowe put on quite a [quick] show.

on a positive note attendance while pathetic is up , although i must admit by real disappoitment is the lack of attendance in sundays..... pathetic .....

The Marlins knew and accepted that it was going to happen when they closed the upperdeck on Sundays and allowed all us 41 game pack ticketholders to transition down to 28. It was the right move because Sunday's are just unbearable at PPS. For me it worked out as I bought a ten game weeknight pack as well, so I get to enjoy a few extra night games.

I think if they could cancel every Sunday day game they would, families just couldn't keep attending especially if they had small kids.

It's too damn hot on Sundays. Hot sun, high humidity, and little breeze. Plain and simple. The office workers aren't used to being outside that long and the people that do work outside don't want to sit in a sauna for 3 hours or so on their day off.

We just spent our last Sunday sitting in our regular seats. April is fine every year but come May we sit there until it starts to get uncomfortable. We have already traded in our next two Sunday games for 200 level last row (next to the windows that are usually open). Problem with that is that we get face value for our trade ins and have to pay full price for the upgrade. Comes to about $80 more per game for us. A little more appreciation shown to us full season ticket holders by at least giving us those upgraded tickets at full season discount would be nice.

I dont get it, so Floridians are only supposed to spent time outdoors after 4 oclock? I went to the game Thursday, yeah it was hot, but thats why I love Florida and thats why people move down here. Peo[ple who don't go to games because its hot arent big fans. I doubt anyone on this board has passed up a good matchup because it was a day game...

I don't think yesterdays game was the best for the kid's to see. They probably hate baseball now, and think it's "boring" not being able to appreciate a good pitching duel that was in front of them. They want to see Homeruns and more homeruns. Most of them left before JW went yard.

I heard plenty of cheering after a Mitre got a Dodger hitter out.

Seems like these were middle and high school students who knew a bit more about baseball than people want to give credit for.

They all know who the home team is too, they are not old enough to know any other team in South Florida.

I think the kid's understand the game quite well. As far as organized sports go, it is the one sport that has Tee Ball Leagues for 6 year olds. Most kids get introduced to the sport at a young age and can respect the difficulty of getting a hit; especially in the Majors.
