May 11, 200719 yr So I THINK i saw on ESPNS bottom line that Willy has 3 homers and 11 rbis this week or something. player of the week honors? right now i think him and miggy are the 2 all stars from this team.
May 11, 200719 yr Author before some people flip out i will correct myself and say his name is Josh Willingham
May 11, 200719 yr Player of the week? He's been in a slump for a few games. Other than that, the Hammer is awesome.

For anyone here (especially here) to be thinking that Hanley, if he keeps up his current pace, won't make the ASG is grounds for being committed.
May 11, 200719 yr Hammer hit .125/.192/.250 this week with 1hr and 3rbi as for Hanley, the NL SS position is stacked this year I realize his OPS is tops, but coaches wont look at that... he needs more HR and RBI in a hurry right now i think him and miggy are the 2 all stars from this team. Do me a favor and look at JJ Hardy, Jose Reyes, Edgar Renteria, Jimmy Rollins, and Sea Bass Hanley is in trouble.

We know Reyes is a lock, and Hanleys oiled glove might keep him out in favor of Jimmy.
May 11, 200719 yr Extrapolate Hanley's stats over the course of a full season (from the leadoff spot): .339/.425/.543 150 R 227 H 53 2B 14 3B 21 HR 66 RBI 61 SB He's currently 8th in NL average, 11th in OBP, 19th in SLG, 4th in 3B, 4th in SB, and T-1st in Runs. Yeah, getting rejected let me tell you.

Yeah, getting rejected let me tell you. He's putting up great offensive numbers but at this point those numbers make him around the 4th best SS in the NL.
May 11, 200719 yr Ok stop the hijacking of this thread guys. Back to Hammer. He's been slumping a bit, but seems to come through when we need him. Tied for 3rd in RBIs, that's pretty good stuff. Just needs to put the ball in play more and raise his average.
May 11, 200719 yr I realize his OPS is tops, but coaches wont look at that... he needs more HR and RBI in a hurry His OPS is 3rd.
May 11, 200719 yr Among NL SS: AVG- 3rd OBP- 2nd SLG- 5th Runs- T1st 2B- 5th 3B- T3rd HR- T4th SB- 2nd (and the 83% clip is better than Reyes' 79%) Oh, and he's only had 125 AB while the others are ahead (Rollins 153, Reyes 145, Hardy 139) and Renteria is neck and neck.
May 11, 200719 yr Any way Josh plays a game or two at catcher this year? I remember him coming up as a catcher, but he seemed to always be injured. Maybe just give olivo a day off and throw Kool aid in the mix. It would be a much better offense than having Matt "the home run trot" Treanor batting 8th.
May 11, 200719 yr I used to think that way but Josh is playing good baseball in LF and it reduces his chances of injury (checkered past)
May 11, 200719 yr I talked with Willingham after the game. He was with Presley, who was ragging him because he didn't hit it into the upper deck. And he told me "I can't hit 'em up there, dude." He signed a few cards for me, and I got a picture with him (I'll post it this weekend).

May 11, 200719 yr As much as I hated his defense last season (he looks a little better this year) I love his bat. I just picked him up on my fantasy squad, which means he's probably gonna be on the DL soon. Keep your fingers crossed for me.

May 11, 200719 yr Willy's numbers don't come in barrages but more of a steady flow of even day in and day out production that generally goes unnoticed. His final stats will be .280 27 homers 90 RBI. I'll take it!
