TWIB spends some time with the Marlins

06/08/2007 11:40 AM ET

By Tom Keller / MLB.com

The Florida Marlins, one of the league's youngest and most dynamic teams, will be introduced to a national television audience when they are featured on Saturday's episode of "This Week In Baseball."

"One of the reasons we chose to focus on the Marlins this week is they have lot of young, unheralded talent," said TWIB producer James Potocki.

The show will take an in-depth look at the club, including a profile of stars Hanley Ramirez and Miguel Cabrera, and will also give a behind-the-scenes look as Aaron Boone and Dan Uggla were fitted with microphones during a game earlier this season. Potocki said Boone steals the show in batting practice as he displays his ability to do impressions of everyone from his current Marlins teammates to the New York fans he played in front of as a Yankee.

"He really reveals the comedian that he is," Potocki said. "Most people, when they think of Aaron Boone, they think of the walk-off home run in the '03 ALCS, but he gives you a new look at the guy."

Uggla displays a different persona as he controls the field during the game, Potocki said.

"Uggla was more of a quick chatter guy," Potocki said. "It was almost the kind of stuff you'll hear on a Little League field -- 'Let's go, Hanley! Let's pick it up!' He's definitely a cheerleader."

That segment will be followed by "The Top Five Things You Don't Know About the Marlins," presented by Gillette. Potocki offered this hint for one of the tidbits: "Dan Uggla likes dirt."

In "Pepsi Presents," the winner of fan voting for May's most clutch player will be announced. The Marlins' Josh Willingham is one of six finalists for the award.

The "Front-Row Fans" segment, sponsored by Chevrolet, will follow the stars of TLC's reality show "Miami Ink" as they designed a temporary Marlins tattoo for a giveaway at a Florida home game earlier this season.

"They go to the stadium, they interact with the Marlins, they take batting practice, they throw a ceremonial first pitch and they take us inside their shop as they design their tattoo from scratch," Potocki said.

Finally, in "How 'Bout That," presented by Gatorade, the best plays of the week will be accompanied by the song "Men's Needs" by indie rock band The Cribs.

"This Week in Baseball" will air at different times in different markets. Check your local listings for more information

Awesome... anyone have any idea when this will be on t.v?

It'll be on 7 a.m. here on Fox.

Going to record it if I can find a tape cuz no way I'll be up that early, but I won't be able to put it up on youtube.

Woah, TWIB shows at 7 am? Here in Kendall, its on right before the Fox Saturday Game of the Week at 1 pm.

Yeah, it used to be right before the game when I was a kid. Not sure they pushed it down to 7, I haven't watched it in years.

Boone.. lol

He's always been a great guy to have in the clubhouse, from what ive read/heard. Add in his absolutely wonderful play this year.. just been a great pickup this offseason.

I dont think it airs here... couldnt find it on the TV listings. By the look of the site, they should put it on there.. or at least clips of it. I swear though I've seen an episode here and there every once in a while.

I did a search for it at http://tv.msn.com, that's how I found the listing for here.

It will be on the big screens before the game or during a rain delay if anyone misses the on air broadcast. But for those in PBC, Holly got it right, it is on the local Fox station 29 at noon.
