Posted June 15, 200717 yr Discuss...Offense was totally dead tonight. Uggla with 4k's? Argh. We need to change our approach. Terrible approach. Dontrelle pitched a great game. I honestly thought Dontrelle broke his hand on that play at first. Phewww.. Lindstrom looked good. No runs allowed. Nice crowd - 24K... Too bad we play like crap at home. Mitre is going tomorrow. Hopefully he can shut down the Royals offense. Nice to see Olivo get a hit in the 9th, but I still don't trust him. End.
June 15, 200717 yr well dontrelle cant get a break and hes not getting the run support he used to.... terrible at bats by hermida boone and alfy and we gave the indians two of those runs with the error and martinez actually being tagged out.....we always get to .500 then fall back down again....we need to pull a yankees a get in a 6+ game win streak.
June 15, 200717 yr Had me on the edge of my seat in the bottom of the 9th, got close and definetly felt like we could pull it off if it wasn't for the horrible at bats from hermida and boone.
June 15, 200717 yr here are my thoughts i went to the game tonight and when i saw Dontrelle Willis laying on the floor grabbing his arm and laying for what seemed like an hour to me made me so nervous.  nice gun by Reggie tonight as well. 4k's by uggla? wow
June 15, 200717 yr The 9th inning bunt attempt was idiotic.  Offense was totally dead tonight. Uggla with 4k's? Argh. We need to change our approach. Terrible approach. There's nothign wrong with the approach. The team wont score 7 runs every night.
June 15, 200717 yr Uggla definetly needs to get into a groove. Those at bats in the bottom of the 9th from Boone and Hermida were disgusting.
June 15, 200717 yr boone knew he missed that hanging slider when he said "damn" he couldve put it in the power alley
June 15, 200717 yr well that was fun...I finally got to live the 1997 WS!!! I got soaked in the 9th I was hoping the rain wouldn't come, and it poured, so I was like what the heck and stayed out there for most of the delay. Amazing game to wrap up the series and a great celebration. I also liked how the brought "Everybody's Doing The Fish" back with the original 1997 video!
June 15, 200717 yr awesome that Alex Gordon is heating up just as we go into face him and the Royals :|
June 15, 200717 yr that Willis incident was pretty scary at first. i was there at the game and alot of ppl were nervous but it was a good sign when he shook off the trainer and threw some tosses. he pitched well enough just not enough run support. Reggie gunning it and Uggla had 4 K's ! bottom of the 9th we gave them a run for their money but just couldnt finish it off. wish it would have been the top of the order again instead of the how it ended.

I also liked how the brought "Everybody's Doing The Fish" back with the original 1997 video! When they showed the Everybody's doing the Fish" video I wondered if it was the original until I saw 94.9 Zeta in the background which no longer exists. The rain sucked because a lot of those people that left at the first drop of rain will probably not be back for a loooong time and the rain will be their excuse. I got soaked and just looked around and said, I guess this is why people dont come.
June 15, 200717 yr I was at the game tonight and it was nice to see such a large and energetic crowd, especially for a Thursday. For those who went, did anyone notice me on the jumbotron? I was on in the 1st inning, holding up a Cabrera sign (saying Cabs deserves to be a starter over David Wright.)
June 15, 200717 yr I guess you just tip your hat to the superior team. I'd like to go on a rant about how we handed them the W (and losing on an unearned run no less) but it's just not worth it. Dontrelle pitched great, Hammer and Hermida had good games overall, hopefull they turn the corner. Abercrombie continues to be awful at the plate and Uggla continues to be the quintessential high/low player. Nights like tonight, between the rain and abysmal performance really reenforce why people don't come (back).
June 15, 200717 yr I really enjoyed the pre-game ceremony tonight! When they showed the scenes from Game 7 I got goosebumps. I loved seeing the '97 players that were there and seeing our guys in those unis was great. When the Indians were up 2-0 I was thinking how awesome it would be if we tied it in the 9th and won it in the 11th but, yeah, that would have been too perfect. Seeing Dontrelle on the ground like that was very scary and it looked a lot worse than it turned out to be. As the play unfolded you could see it was an injury waiting to happen. It's a shame they couldn't pull it out in the 9th but, as usual, the fans that stayed after the rain delay were the pumped up die-hards. It was a pretty enthusiastic crowd tonight. Incidentally, I thought the rings were much nicer than the '03 replica rings.
June 15, 200717 yr Dontrelle kept us in the game (again). Offense sucked (again)  Thats my game recap.  PS. Reggie with a real nice throw to home.

There's nothign wrong with the approach. The team wont score 7 runs every night. I'm willing to bet Jeremy did that on his own. Nothing solid, just a feeling. And if it was Jeremy's idea then Fredi should have had Bo call a TO and walk down there to talk to him about it. Dosen't really matter right now, but whether it was Jeremy's idea or Fredi's, I have to agree. Poor decision. The approach I will disagree with. We have a horrendous time with soft throwing lefties for some reason. There comes a time when you have to realize the approach you are using isn't going to work for this team and CHANGE it. This is still a very young team and they have yet to learn that you can not take the same approach to every pitcher. Adjustments still aren't happening. They will eventually mature into figuring this out, but they haven't yet. I was at the game tonight and it was nice to see such a large and energetic crowd, especially for a Thursday. From where we sit I thought he was safe. Just looked like he slid in before the tag was applied. But we don't get the "advantage" of all the slo-mo instant replays sitting there at the game. Whatever, it was a great play by Reggie. Along with that OF assist at the plate. And I thought for sure he wasn't going to be able to get to that lazy pop up. What a fantastic sliding catch. Everyone around us was giving him love the whole game because of his defense. Just like we did Tuesday with those great plays by The Amazing. Funny how things like that go mostly ignored on these boards just because those two aren't MGs or even MGITs.

June 15, 200717 yr He hustles, he gives us everything he's got. He has played out of position since he has been here, he is valuable BUT I DO NOT WANT TO SEE HIM IN A CLUTCH TWO OUT PINCH HITTING ROLE IN THE BOTTOM OF THE NINTH. I would rather have pinch hit Scott Olsen than watch Amezaga's feeble swing attempts and the non swing on third strike.

That was absolutely filthy.

My feeling is basically a lack of confidence in AA in clutch situations.
