Pitching Matchup

FLA: LHP Dontrelle Willis (7-6, 4.58 ERA)

Despite a quality start in his last outing, Willis dropped his third straight decision. The lefty gave up three runs over seven innings to Cleveland. There were two encouraging signs from Willis: he struck out eight, and didn't walk a batter for the first time this season. Willis' last win was on May 29 at Wrigley Field against the Cubs. He has logged at least six innings in 10 straight starts, but hasn't worked past seven innings this season.

CWS: LHP John Danks (3-6, 4.34 ERA)

It was a mixed bag for Danks during his Wednesday afternoon start against the Phillies at Citizens Bank Park. The rookie left-hander allowed just two runs on five hits, while walking three and striking out five. But he only lasted 4 2/3 innings due to a pitch count of 103. Danks, who has not won a start since May 22 against Oakland, has never faced Florida. It will be his third straight start against National League competition, with one previous loss and one no-decision.

Willis vs. Danks

Danks probably gets the worst run support of any of our starters, which is saying something. He could have easily started 6-2 had we even been average on offense, but he's had some trouble with his off speed pitches lately. If he has the off speed stuff working, he'll have a good night, but if not you guys will score some runs. And Thome has a stiff back, and is taking the night off with a lefty on the mound. Iguchi, Fields, and Terrero are probably the only 3 hitters in our lineup tonight that are even a threat right now.

I'd also like to take this opportunity to apologize for the Sox TV and Radio announcers in advance btw. No, Sox fans don't like them either.

That's why us Marlin fans have a bad rep, because of fair weather fans like you.

I know a lot of people around here are hard on hermida right now...but hasnt he hit lefties well or am i mistaken? if so then i would have liked to see him in the lineup tonight

Hanley is such a freakin masher.

When his defense gets better, FUGETABOUTIT!
