This is painful (game thoughts)

Could be worse

Agreed. Gotta hope that we can only go up from here. We're fortunate the Mets have lost two in a row, but I'm not sure if 10 games can be gained. If people still say the Yankees are in it, then I'll say the Fish are too.

I think it's safe to say you can stop tracking the Mets :mis2

it is not impossible but we need to get hot and i mean really hot but even we went on a similar diamondbacks win streak which is 7 games we would still be 1 game under .500. The whole year we just kept digging ourselves into a hole and now its pretty deep but i still hope we can get something going.

Not with my man crush on Ron Darling I won't!

I don't care about the playoffs, by this point I just want to finish .500+

there is too much baseball left to just give up now so i would love to see a run and lets make it interesting at least

love the attitude. but extremely painful. respect to vanden hurk for having large testicles. hanley is superhuman (is he just fine now? because that would be pretty remarkable, and maybe a little unwise?).

I didn't see the game. Hate those left coast night games. But I sure am confused with the box scores. On the Markins web site the write up says the Marlins had 2 throwing errors on one play. Jeremy and Lindstrom. The box score there shows 2 marlins errors (The Amazing, fielding; and Lindstrom, throwing) and no errors by the Giants.

What really happened?

Pinto needs to stop coming into close game. I don't care if he's a lefty. It's like Almanza and Perisho, it doesn't matter if you throw left handed if you suck.

At least Hanley's back.

same here, because we shouldnt even think about it until we get t .500 first.

honestly i did not like Cody Ross being taken out of the game, he already had 2 hits including a 2-Run HR in the game and he plays a good CF. i was upset about that. Pinto was just in there for too long after he allowed the HR by Durham he should have been yanked right there and then.

Hanley was being himself again just great to see!

the sooner some of you realize we are not a good team, the easier some of these games are to swallow

These few days have been awful. I hate WCRT, they never seem to turn out well.

The last one wasn't bad.....4-2 vs the Dodgers and Padres

the sooner some of you realize we are not a good team, the easier some of these games are to swallow

Glad someone else is realizing this. Other than Hanley and Miggy, there is ZERO special about the Marlins, at least right now. Uggla might be special, but other than that, you'd have to say all are disappointments, especially Hermida & Dontrelle.

This team is what it is, and maybe those who couldn't believe Joe G got manager of the Year, will realize he did one hell of a job with rookies that have mid-level to below average talent. You are seeing now with Fredi G how much they miss Joe G's style. Its not that Fredi might be a bad manager, its just he is a bad fit for the talent and age of players we have. He needs a veteran team to run, and unfortunately under this present ownership, we'll never have a veteran team.

That is why I believe Fredi will never succeed down here and will be gone after 3 seasons.

Hermida is having a fantastic month.... he's going to be fine

Willingham is having a fine year, as is Jacobs

Kevin Gregg, Justin Miller...... Tank is looking better too

How about how well Amezaga has been playing (before last night on D)?

All disappointments my ass

and did you just say the rookies last year had mid to below average talent?... get the hell out of here... you know not of what you speak

Hermida is having a fantastic month.... he's going to be fine

Well my feelings towards Hermida before the season were well documented here but even I must admit that this kid is going to turn into an OBP machine. Probably the best eye on the club, already and his bat speed is unreal for a second year player.

For the first time, I agree with you about him, Ramp: He's going to be fine.

I cannot agree with that, I'll say we are simply too inconsistent. We played pretty damn well on the last road trip in San Diego and L.A. Not lights out, but we were in most of the games and both of those squads are in the Top 5 in the NL.

After half a season, I can't see how there is enough to evaluate Fredi's coaching ability. I personally think from being under someone like Bobby Cox for how many years, he should have a solid core in coaching. It's quite a 360 from Girardi since he was very verbal and animated, but I say wait at least until same time next year to even begin to evaluate the man. He's been decent from what has been given to him.

I'm as big of a Jacobs supporter on her as anyone (and about the only one, actually), but I really wouldn't say he's having a fine year. Sub-.800 OPS from a firstbaseman...-5 FRAA...a grand total of a 1.8 WARP....6.8 VORP.

Not writing him off but he's been a dissapointment for me. Can blame the thumb but meh, doesn't change the numbers.

yea, I think having a thumb injury would change the numbers just a tad

he's also killing lefties this year which is great to see

by season's end I expect his OPS to be over .800

Well, by "change the numbers" I didn't mean he wouldn't be better if he wasn't injured (Doesn't matter what the injury is, 100% healthy > >100% healthy). I meant you can't just go back in time and change the numbers.

But he just isn't plain walking anymore.

You look at his BB per PA

Minor Career-13.3/2275 PA

2005-11.2/112 PA

2006-11.5/520 PA

First month of 2007-8.1/81 PA

Since-24.7/148 PA...grand total of 6 walks

Yeah 148 PA's is only roughly 25-30% of a normal season, so smallish sample size, but still....6 walks in that time period is horrible.

His injury might be have a phsycological effect on him (i.e. needs to prove he can hit even with his thumb injured so he swings when he normally wouldn't). But then again I'm not a physciatrist.

We have a winner folks!

:notworthy

/end of thread

I actually like what Jake has done lately. I don't think his defense has been that bad (granted, I haven't seen EVERY game), and he seems to be getting at least a hit in each game, and some are pretty good ones, going the opposite way and such. The one complaint I have that someone else mentioned was he does have only 15 walks. That surprises me.

this team will be tested at home this week let see how much fan support do this team get and will keep losing or find way to win we were kicking ass at home last home stand but it look like bats and pitching stay at home
