October 22, 200323 yr Yes, you idiots of the boxing universe, I'm talking to you. Denfenders of the OPS who claim there's no such thing as clutch hitting, have you got it? or are you adding up #'s in a calculator to find a mathematical explanation for "clutch"? Is anybody going to keep saying that DLee is a better player that Jeff "motherf***ingstud" Conine.? If you watch Conine play you you know he tries to hit flyballs with a runner on 3rd and less than 2 outs and is very good at it. Yes rbi's are team #'s unlike OPS, slugging and OBP, but you need to put the ball in play (the right way) to drive in those runs and Conine is a master of it. He might not hit you the 3 run bomb very often, but he does get the sac fly or the week grounder or goes the other way in between the 2nd basemen and 1st basemen to drive in the run. What does DLee do? He goes down on strikes, looking most of the time. But there's no such thing as clutch, even though he keeps coming up to bat with runners in scoring position and keeps going down on strikes, not bringing them home or advancing them. If DLee had an ounce of that intuitive feeling about the game that Conine has he would be a great player, but unfortunately he doesn't

October 22, 200323 yr Then you are also talking about the worst SS in the NL ( hitting wise ) Alex "Scrub" Gonzalez
October 22, 200323 yr So many wasted chances and last night was the result. WE NEED TO HIT THE FRIGGIN BALL!! :angry
October 22, 200323 yr There's no in doubt my mind that had Conine been up instead of Lee we'd have gotten that run home BUT WE DIDN'T. That's the way it is. As FishFan24 said, "we need to hit the ... ball".
October 22, 200323 yr Conine and Lee must Switch lineup orders Lowell needs to realize he is a 4th bat and act like one. Even thought Cabs is dependable he shouldnt be 4th bat, cabs will never be a 4th bat. maybe later on in his carreer he can be 3rd, 5th or 6th...but never 4th we cant leave everything in the hands of pierre, pudge, cabrera. Conine never has a chance to accomplish anything cause of the people batting behind him. Lowell needs to know that he can hit, he can fly out at least, thats all i ask from a person that should be 4th bat. Lineup Today SHOULD be Pierre - WILL get on base Castillo - bunt or will get on base. Pudge - One of the most dependable bats. Will not let you down Lowell - power man, at least fly out to deep outfield Conine - The MOST dependable bat Cabrera - Power and Dependable bat Combo DLEE - will once in a while get on base - snap out of it Sea Bass - why do you torture me. Despiertate!! Pitcher - All we ask is that you are able to bunt
October 22, 200323 yr No way Lowell should be batting 4th right now, he's been worse than DLee. I'm all for putting Conine 5th.
October 22, 200323 yr I dont know why McKeon continues to bat Lee too high in the lineup. Sure, he has power, but he has yet to be consistent. I think Lee, Gonzalez and the pitcher should be in the bottom 3rd of the lineup. That way if one of them gets lucky, the Yankees WONT have a 1-2-3 inning, but considering everyone else in front of them, we could actually get a rally going. Should look like this: Pierre Castillo Pudge Cabrera Lowell Conine Lee Gonzalez P Cabrera at #4 because he has the tools to get it done still. Castillo has been terrible when it mattered this series. The bottom three are just terrible right now, the pitcher I am willing to live with but has to bunt.
October 22, 200323 yr People love "tools". That's why DLee is so highly regarded. He's GOT to be moved down in the order. I'd go Pudge, Cabs, Conine, Lowell, Lee, SeaBass

October 22, 200323 yr Why even put Castillo in the two-hole?! Pierre can get to second base himself. We don't need the extra out at the top of the order Castillo gives us.
October 22, 200323 yr Ok, let's not get TOO carried away. Luis was an instrumental part of that 1st run we scored off Wells in Game One (a game-deciding run as it turned out). He got the 2nd hit of the game, which moved Pierre to 3rd, allowing him to score on Pudge's sac fly. Yes, Luis has looked really BAD at the plate the past 2 games, but he can and has delivered on many occasions. He bats over .300 every year. He contributes, UNLIKE Lee and A-Gon. Hopefully, Luis will pull his head out of his a*s and get moving........ GO MARLINS!
October 22, 200323 yr Why even put Castillo in the two-hole?! Pierre can get to second base himself. We don't need the extra out at the top of the order Castillo gives us. If you were even following the Marlins before last week you might have been too busy doing something else to notice that Luis in the two hole was a significant reason WE ARE WHERE TODAY - IN THE WORLD SERIES. You win the dumbest post of the week award. Congratulations!!!
October 22, 200323 yr Marlins faithful since '93. You've got to play the hot hand. Castillo is not performing. To keep him up in the two-hole for a role we don't even need is stupid. What would you suggest that we keep the same lineup from September, with struggling Lee still batting clean-up?
October 22, 200323 yr it's Wednesday, BAT CONINE 4TH looking back to that Wednesday when Conine dominated the Phils, he is 12 for his last 17 BAT HIM 4TH TONIGHT
October 22, 200323 yr BAT HIM 4TH TONIGHT Why? Cabrera had 2 hits and our only RBI last night. Bat Conine 5th.
October 22, 200323 yr WC, you ask me why.... look at my reason why HE OWNS WEDNESDAYS.... He hits well on Wednsdays. Woopty doo. Who cares. What his batting average is on a certain day is the stupidist statistic I have ever heard, it should have no relivance, and it's probably the LAST thing McKeon thinks about when he writes the batting order out.
October 22, 200323 yr Far be it from me to speak for someone else, but I believe he meant that "tongue in cheek" - unless I an the one who missed something! LOL
October 22, 200323 yr I had a feeling that's not what he meant. It would be ver un-Ramp like to think someone hits better on a certain day of the week. That's just idiotic.
October 22, 200323 yr I am all for swapping Lee and Conine in the batting order. Heck I think I even recommended that yesterday.
October 22, 200323 yr I am all for swapping Lee and Conine in the batting order. Heck I think I even recommended that yesterday. I would be for replacing Conine with Lee, ONLY if we get something out of a trade for lee that can help us win. If we can't get something to help us win, then I don't think you do it.
