Cody Ross

management is really starting to annoy me. Why cant we just let cody play against both lefties and righties and let him get the at bats and see what he can do.. I love amezaga but he is an infielder and he does not bring much with the bat. Why would you leave that offenseive hole in center!!?? its not like alfredo crushes righties!

Yeah, I agree.

Just let Cody play everyday. He showed he can hit last year...now I'm glad they didn't bring up Maybin. I thought Ross was going on the DL also...guess not.

Let Cody play...if anything, he can show his power off to some other teams, and we can trade him later on in the year for an area of strength, when guys like De Aza or Maybin are ready.

Aye, let Cody play full-time. You can give him a day off every once in a while against RHP, and play AA then if you want, but just give him the spot. He's a decent OFer who is strangely for us, actually an OFer and has some pop. And again, its not like we're realistically trying to win, so we might as well do something that makes better sense than playing second baseman/shortstop in CF.

Lets see if he can remain healthy if he plays everyday. If he can't the Fish can join the other teams that haven't seen him reach what is fast approaching the promise of his potential. If he stays healthy I think he can be a consistant contributator

If we were trying to win, we wouldn't have traded Miguel Cabrera.

You are so, so wrong. It was the right thing to do at exactly the right time.

But sarcasm is easy.

You can say it was the right thing long term and I won't argue with that, but my point from the beginning was/is that no one among the higher ups in the FO has engineered this team with the expectation of winning much of anything this season.

We traded away the NL's best hitter and our most dependable pitcher (to both log IP and win games) and among the best players we got in return it is debatable if any of them are truly ready to be in the majors.

Again, long term, I think its easy to argue in favor of the trades we made. I do not think you can argue that those moves were made with the intention of making the team win as many games as possible in the 2008 season.

Cody can't field center competently. I like him, but he lacks a center fielders skills and instincts.

No he can't. This year I would like to see De Aza and Carroll get almost all the playing time in CF. I have my doubts about both of them but it's obvious that Cody is not the CF answer so let's find out about the other two. If they don't hit at all then maybe we only win about 65 games instead of about 70. Not a big deal.

well freddy was just quoted on the official site as not being opposed to using cody everyday at all and that they are just waiting for his legs to be 100 percent

I would not be surprised if Cody is traded if he doesn't stick in center. He's one of the best fourth OFers in baseball but we signed Gonzo.
