Can you pleaassseee let Amezaga hit 2nd???????

1. Hanley (we have no other choice, and Hanley is a good leadoff hitter, anyway)

2. Amezaga (actually works the pitcher, and makes contact)

Have Uggla hit 5th or 6th...that way when he hits his occasional HR, it means more RBI's for him, and more runs for the team (preferably 6th b/c Uggla sucks with .RISP)

i agree...although minus the homers...jakey and willy have been pretty bad this year making any contact

Bad this year? We are a week into the season...nevermind that Jake had a 3-hit game on Friday, and that combined, Jake and Hammer have driven in a third of our runs so far. Give it a rest. It's not like our lineup is loaded with guys who are career 300+ hitters. Nor is that our major problem thus far either.

i know its only been 6 games...but this is a career long issue...none of them are great contact hitters and that bothers me...and striking out has been a major problem thus far

Striking out is rarely a major problem. We've been over this.

Then don't get started talking about this year. And give Jake the benefit of the doubt that if healthy, he can do better than he has the last 2 years. He's been as clutch as anyone so far this year. And again, what's your alternative?

Bat Amezaga 2nd? I'm fine with that. Bottom of the order will suffer, but besides moving up Amezaga, who would you prefer batting 3-4-5 as of now? Gonzalez? Cantu? Treanor? seriously, for better or worse, Uggla, Jake, and Hammer need to be the heart of our order right now.

Please Fredi, don't put Alfredo in the lineup.

I think Alfredo will work great in the lineup. 2nd would suit him well, I think.

What's your view?

He's a .260 hitter who isn't particularly good with RISP. I mean, sure he battles out there when he is batting, but he is usually on the losing end of the battles.

For the record, I love Amezaga.

I'd rather have him leading off and Hanley second than Hanley first and him second.

Put the guy with less power (and in this case, we're talking about a huge difference) in the first spot.

I think he's mentioned Hermida will hit 3rd when he's back in the lineup.

See, I don't quite understand why.

They both have good OBP abilities but Ramirez has much better power, which to me makes him a better fit for the number three spot.

differing opinions on the matter...but 12 times today after what 11 last game? is ridiculous...pure and simple

im in agreement with you...i want pasta 2nd and then jacobs and hammer and uggla and cantu and gonzalez and etc...im just frustrated with their lack of contact...and after the last two days...that goes for the whole team...(waits for bobbob to swoop in and tell me K's dont matter)...

Hopefully Hermida will be hitting second when he comes back.

An order of Hermida-Willingham-Ramirez-Jacobs-Uggla interests me as well.

You don't want Hammer in front of Hanley. If you do that, you'll turn a lot Hanley's doubles into singles and triples into doubles.

If Fredo plays then it should be Fredo, Jeremy, Hanley, Hammer and then Uggla.

Uggla, Hammer and Jacobs are not contact hitters. They'll K a ton. Get used to it or you'll drive yourself crazy.

im already there bro...already there...but then again...i do live in new england...so maybe its to be expected

Amezega should not even be starting when we are not nursing injuries. He is a valuable player in that when we lose any player other than a catcher, he can step in, but he would not be better than Uggla as a #2 hitter. Neither of them is particularly accomplished at getting on base.

Hopefully Hermida will be hitting second when he comes back.

And without Hermida?

Even once he's back, he and Hanley can only take 2 spots in the lineup and they will likely go 1-2, so the problem of who hits 3-4-5 is still there. Point it that it has to be some combination of Uggla, Jake, & Hammer.

No one else moves into that part of the lineup until we have a new leadoff man, which means until Maybin can come up and earn it or on the off chance that when De Aza returns someone tricks him into thinking it's still ST.

Well, right now, that's not the case.

And Uggla is a HORRIBLE 2nd hitter. Ever since last year, he strikes out way too much. I think he led the league in K's last year.

A 2nd hitter is supposed to at least be able to put the ball in play.

Uggla in the 5th spot works.

Ramirez

Hermida

Jacobs

even though Fredi keeps saying Hermida would go right back to 3

I will be satisfied if the lineup looks something like this once Maybin is called up to take over the leadoff spot.

1. Maybin

2. Hermida

3. Ramirez

4. Willingham

5. Uggla

6. Jacobs

7. Cantu

8. Rabelo/Treanor

9. Pitcher

Jacobs and Uggla are interchangeable depending on who is more consistent. The rest of the order is balanced nicely with speed at the top and the bulk of the power coming from the 3-6 spots in the order. Cantu in the 7 hole also helps the bottom of the order by giving it some power and a .260 average or so.
