Interesting Marlins Stats thus far....

Featured Replies

Ok so since I was bored this morning I was looking at Team stats and I found the following...

No Surprises here..... these stats are across MLB.

Team Pitching

We are LEADING all MLB in Bullpen Innings Pitched with 34.2 IP with an ERA of 3.89

We are DEAD LAST in TEAM ERA with a 6.19 Team ERA

We are DEAD LAST in Runs Allowed

Team Hitting

We are DEAD LAST in Strikeouts (ie. we have the most team strikeouts) with 60 K's in 7 games

We are tied for 2nd place in HomeRuns with 11

We are DEAD LAST in doubles

Obviously we must improve in all the above (except the HR) or we will not be in first place for very long :confused

Another interesting note--our Projected Wins (Based on Run Differential) is only 2. That means we could--or should--be 2-5 rather than 4-3 if it were not for some timely moments, which is pretty cool. However, at the same time, it tells us we're pretty lucky to be where we are right now.

are we trying break our own record of most HR in a season like we did few year ago

That's going to be hard with Cantu taking Cabrera's spot

The blowout losses really throw that off. RD or Pythag. record aren't all that useful until at least 30 games in. Too much fluctuation otherwise.

while i agree with bobbob about being too early too look at this stuff...god i pray that our pitching gets better or else this will be a very, very long year

We are DEAD FIRST in the standings though.

true, but the DEAD FIRST week of baseball just ended though.

amen. who cares if its early, we can only go down from here. we are winning the close games.

There are no surprises there. I think it's a really good bet we'll end up in the top 3 / bottom 3 of all those categories excpet the doubles. I guess the bullpen ERA could be risky if these guys get worned out pitching 4 or 5 innings every night.

Well the pitching can only get better. You must say the rotatoin is pretty weak.

Mitre should be back by the end of May. He should be good for no less than 5 or 6 wins if he can make about 20 starts Witch is pretty good since Hendrickson "the number one" LOL is projected to have 6 wins in 35 games.

Anibal hmmm something to look forward to right before or right after the All Star break. fingers crossed :confused maybe 16 starts 4 or 5 wins

One other weak spot is rightfield. Gonzo is a leftfielder with the arm to match. Hermida will be lucky if he plays in 111 games and gets 368 AB's. Seems like he is always on the DL.

Back to pitching. A few FA that may fit in are Claudio Vargas if the Mets don't sign him and Freddy Garcia if his sholder can hold up.

Pitching will come around, especially when Pinto joins the roto and Nolasco gets his start later this week.

Also, hitting should get better when Hermida returns, and in late May/early June when Maybin gets the callup.

:banghead I'm really hating this team right now. They're a bunch of hackers and it seems like they're being encouraged to be hackers. I think management knows they need to score alot of runs because the pitching is so weak. Just get up there and swing away boys . We need all the runs we can get.

We should separate this stat. The starters ERA is over 8. The bullpen's ERA is 3.89. Saying the Team ERA is soooo high...it just makes things seem REALLY BAD. It's BAD, but not REALLY BAD. At least the bullpen is doing well.

I would like to see our stats updated daily in this thread. That way this thread would be first in awesomeness.

You mean DEAD FIRST. According to federal law, we can't say DEAD FIRST unless we mean it.

This is what is so perplexing to me.

Management says it wants to emphasize pitching & defense, yet that is the weakest parts of the team. Are they actually making the best deals to get better, when they trade away our real talent ?

The Defense hasn't been that much of a problem thus far, and only the starting pitching has been an issue. RP has been very good.

We are DEAD FIRST in the standings though.

We are officially DEAD FIRST in doubles (in the NL), and yes, DEAD FIRST in the NL EAST!
