May 4, 200818 yr I think by Japanese you refer to a common stereotype that all Asian players are Japanese, which, they are not. Asian yes, Japanese, definately not.
May 4, 200818 yr We've only had two I believe all time, Hee Seop Choi, and B.K. Kim. Brings back memories of the Choi days and that in-the-park homerun he hit at dolphin stadium. I remember he hit 9 homers for us in April of 04 and then hit like 3 over the next two months...
May 5, 200818 yr Have partnerships with Japanese teams. Had Japanese ballplayers practice with the team. Signed or played none of them.
May 5, 200818 yr We've only had two I believe all time, Hee Seop Choi, and B.K. Kim. Both Korean Same thing. :whistle just kidding.
May 5, 200818 yr Author lol It seems like we can fill in the blank in several ways and it would be a valid question....lol

His solid rate of drawing walks was ignored by the old man.
May 5, 200818 yr Which really is too bad. I can understand not wanting to get any of the posted JP players, but there's good FA options out there. you're not going to find too many good position player FAs, but there's been a lot of solid pitching guys who came over as cheap FAs.
May 6, 200818 yr Very few Japanese free agents have gone to teams outside of the west coast or large markets.
May 6, 200818 yr It's probably the issue of the posting fee. Plus, how many will want to go through everything to come here and play in Pittsburgh? That said, Iwamura is an exception.
May 7, 200818 yr We've only had two I believe all time, Hee Seop Choi, and B.K. Kim. And both of those guys are Koreans, NOT Japanese
