Marlins uniform/color change?

Featured Replies

I prefer rainbow colors

Damn all we need is to have the rainbow colors and change the name to the Miami Queers Thats perfect

I like rainbows, actually.

Rainbows don't automatically equal gay.

But I still stand by teal or purple. I think the teal jerseys look nice.

I think we have one of the fresher looking uniforms in the league. It's very easy on the eyes and definitely a good looking jersey.

With that being said, iti is pretty likely that Loria is going to give the team a makeover (not just new jerseys, but new colors, logos, etc) when the new stadium opens. Not only has he mentioned that he would do so before, but it is very common for teams to get new uniforms when a new facility opens. Even the Heat switched jerseys when they opened the new arena. It's all part of branding your team.

In the middle of the 2003 season we all were witness to Loria starting to use orange (I've seen him quoted as saying its his favorite color) as our alternate color.

I don't think we'll ever have an orange jersey but we will definitely see orange in the Miami Marlins. I bet we look like the Dolphins when the new park opens.

Orange = Empty orange seats at Dolphin Stadium. Not what I want to be reminded of.

I do want to see a return to more teal. Not a teal overload (the all teal hats at the begining of the franchise were a little too much teal), but teal lettering like they had prior to 2003 is good.

The black and silver uniforms are pretty boring, if you ask me. Plus having our players wear black in the Florida sun puts us at a disadvantage.

The teal was ok back then, we didnt know any better, thats how things change, the uniforms that we have right now will look old 10 years from now. What about just all navy blue tops, like the ocean.....and white/grey pants.

i know the rays blue is a bit lighter but that seems way too close...we dont need our team looking like them

Teal hat, black brim with the M logo.

Since (some) people are so against the black in Miami, how about this:

Home Jersey is the current - white w/ black pinstripes

Alternate Home Jersey has same Marlins logo but on Teal.

Road Jersey is grey w/ Miami

Alternate Road Jersey is black w/ Miami

Teal hat, black brim with the M logo.

Not gonna happen. If we have teal, I will be surprised.

And some people are against the black, but most aren't. It sells well.

I like the teal look. I would still like to see a black hat with a teal brim, kind of like the ex-Marlins AA affiliate Portland Sea Dogs.

I agree.. We HAVE to keep Teal, and start to use it more. Our colors look great together, and we have been a successful franchise (2 WS titles in 15 years is pretty darn good!) and teal is part of our "short" history. Loria better not change our colors!

I even love our home pinstriped jerseys, the black is okay, a little boring. What ever happened to the pinstripe with the "F" logo on the chest. I liked those as well! I saw a commercial with a black hat, but it had a teal brim. Looked pretty darn good. Anyone seen that before?

Not sure if i've seen the commercial, but it sounds like it would look like what the Mariners use.

:thumbup The black hat with the teal brim was great, as was the rest of the uniform. With the hat and the black undershirt, teal pinstripes and lettering don't look like "overkill" at all. I wish the Marlins would have uniforms like that... and that they still had Portland as their affiliate. Boston has ruined the entire experience of going to a game.

Eric Fox, (unforunately) the 2002 manager of the Sea Dogs, their last year as a Marlins affiliate (and as a respectable organization).

Orange will be part of the color scheme. They will be playing at the Orange Bowl site. All teams that played there have a history with orange. Articles have been hinting at blending old and new so I think some shade blue/green (teal, aqua, turquoise, dark teal whatever they want to call it) will also be present. White and grey are required by MLB to some extent. Black outline looks best on numbers at least. Just my take.

I don't mind the teal as long asits a trim color and not the main color on hats or shirts. Real Marlin colors would be blue, silver and gold. No orange please.

Just saw something kind of interesting, but probably means nothing in the end. It's the replica of the Marlins State of Liberty that is in NYC for the All-Sar Game. Notice anything different? How about the teal pinstripes and majority coloring? The lettering is the grey/silver we've gotten used to, but instead of the black they've been using as the background color for advertisements and merchandise, it's teal (reminds me of the Inagural year batting practice/spring training jerseys).

Seriously, this is a MAJOR issue for me. I'm an artist/designer and I have a huge interest in the designs and colors of every major league team and I of course take huge pride in my Marlins having a beautiful uniform and color scheme...so I'm having a major problem thinking that ugly orange could become a bigger part of this team.

Teal is what makes us unique...we NEED to keep it in some way shape or form but WITHOUT any ungodly orange...

Anyways...anyone have good pics of our uniform changes over time?

Like I wanna see a good "evolution" of our uniforms from 1993 to today...

anyone wanna contribute to this? I think it would make an interesting study....

The idea is to leave everything "tainted" by Huizenga and Dolphin Stadium behind when the teams moves into their new stadium, including their uniforms. Not saying it's right or wrong, I have my opinion, others have theirs, but that is the direction the team is going.
