July 12, 200817 yr I seriously might cry. I am so freaking stoked!! Johnson, Volstad, and Sanchez on the way back......AAAAAGGGHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
July 12, 200817 yr Fredi should have let the guy finish it. Seriously why is Fredi so freaking scared of letting his pitchers finish. Olsen could have finished Volstad should have.I think we all would have love to see him finish it rather then have a heart attack watching Gregg.
July 12, 200817 yr Maybe Fredi should let a guy go ahead and blow a game with 2 outs in the bottom of the 9th just to shut some fans up about the CG crap.

Olsen could have finished Volstad should have.I think we all would have love to see him finish it rather then have a heart attack watching Gregg. I'll tell you why. If Volstad blows the game just because of the "romantic" concept of a complete game, Fredi will be criticized to death. If Gregg would have blown the game, it would have been mostly Gregg's fault because Fredi would have made the sound managerial move by placing the team's best interest before an individual achievement.

July 12, 200817 yr Great control of his curveball and fastball. Tall, young homegrown kid...he's got a bright future.

Olsen could have finished Volstad should have.I think we all would have love to see him finish it rather then have a heart attack watching Gregg. Fredi made the right call , Volstad had thrown over 100 pitches , in the ninth inning had given up two hits , and jeff kent a dangerous hitter was at the plate.
July 12, 200817 yr Wow. I remember watching him pitch in Single-A Jupiter last year! Crazy. Thrilled to see the kid doin' well. Nicest guy, too.

Jeff Kent is also in a slump and volstad had gotten him out earlier in the game

Kent is a proven vet and why keep Chris out there? Protect the young arm. And although Gregg may give us all heart attacks hes been pretty solid of late after blowing the two saves early this month. He picked up his 4th save of the week! Yea he does get hit but I could care less if he walks the bases loaded everytime out, as long as he earns the save Im all good... I dont care how he gets it
July 12, 200817 yr I'm not easily impressed by gangly 21 year old phenoms who no one has ever seen before and thus befuddles his opponents with blazing fastball after blazing fastball. None of the above applies to Chris Volstad. He was calm, he is a freakin' giant, he was unafraid to throw breaking balls for strikes all night. He beat batters by being smarter than them (and you know I cannot ignore the guy behind the plate Paul Hoover who played a big part in this and maybe now will gain some cred around here instead of being a whipping boy, laughed at and ridiculed constantly), by never losing his composure, he looked liked a guy who had been pitching for five years. If this morning someone asked me what a pitcher is supposed to look like I'd point to Chris Volstad. Usually I'm going to say "Hey it's his first game, let's not jump to any rash decisions here..." but you won't read that from me this morning. I can't remember being this impressed by any rookie pitcher, on this team or any other team in a long time. What we watched last night can only be called a pitching "performance". And you don't see them too often.
July 12, 200817 yr great game by chris. toot your marlins horn. MFS 2008 Umm. Thanks for stealing my sig.

"Fishfan97" lesson learned here, ALWAYS put your user name on your sig such as mine, look at the bat. btw He is no longer the future ace of the Marlins so make another sig or have whoever made this sig make you another one. :thumbup
July 12, 200817 yr He is no longer the future ace of the Marlins so make another sig or have whoever made this sig make you another one. :thumbup Chris Volstad is not the ace right now, so he can still be the future ace of this team.

Never said he was, the point was more about his sig being stolen. over-analyze much?
