NBC 6 is reporting that a stadium financing plan has been agreed on between the Marlins and the county. I didnt catch the details, but the agreement came after Samson had lunch with Miami-Dade mayor Alex Penalas and then met with Miami mayor Manny Diaz. Ok, here are some details:

Miami-Dade County will kick in $73 million

Marlins will pay $137 million

Also money based on future earnings or something like that

OB site seems to be an absolute longshot, so Miami Arena site more likely.

Many more details to come, this goes to the county comissioners next Tuesday.

This is a great day to be a Marlins fan!

Hmmm....we're getting somewhere!

The beginning of a dynasty? Possibly the greatest turnaround of any franchise in the history of sports? Why are the media heads sitting on their hands? An incredible sports story just waiting to be written.

 

 

I'm still in awe of this great season...what a freakin ride.

well i would think the money was the biggest stumbling block

 

but Penelas and Diaz agreeing to it isnt official though right, i mean the commissioners still have to approve the financing plan right?

Hold on, everyone! Don' get too carried away. Remember a few years ago when there was a stadium vote 'every other day' and they were all shot down. Just be cautiously optimistic - don't get yourselves too excited because the let-down would be too great.

MIAMI -- NBC 6 has learned exclusively that a deal in principle has been reached that could mean a new stadium for the World Series champion Florida Marlins.

I know the county already has 50 million ready to give away. So their just giving 13 millon extra. I'm sure Loria would give an 137 million. Thats But 140-240 million is still needed. That probably could be reached through sponsors and concerts etc...

Say they have a fund raiser that's like a type of Fan Fest where you can meet the players. Or maybe even have some kind of party where you pay like $10 to get in. That would be awesome.

I would look the other way if Cabs whored himself to Miami women for Vlad money.

But it's true. I doubt he'll really pay attention anyway, but you should've seen all the "Cabrera, Will you marry me?" signs at the parade. LOL

And this is great news for the Marlins!! Just the fact that this team will remain virtually intact and with all of the excitement that has surrounded the Marlins as of late, has really pushed this issue to the forefront! All I can say that if its true, then it is certain that baseball will remain in South Florida forever and I for one cannot be happier.

This stadium has nothing to do with the state government. Why is it that you insist on blaming Jeb? The cruise lines sued to prevent the tax and Bush decided to send it back to the local level.

 

Like he said, If South Florida wants the Marlins, South Florida will pay for the ballpark.
