Post Game 8/5

WE FINALLY BEAT MOYER!

Solid outing from Johnson on a night where he may not have had his best stuff.

Clutch hitting when it was needed from the Marlins bats.

Rhodes has been brilliant.

GREAT WIN!

So it finally happens- we beat Jamie Moyer. Great win for the Fish.

JJ didn't look too great at first with the walks and all but was able to settle down and give us another nice outing. Thankfully that HR call didn't affect us either.

i know everyone will vote Hermida, but i have to say JJ, he has not skipped a beat since returning

Great, great win. Got some hits when we needed them and shut down the Phils offense. Should have been a shutout had it not been for the incorrect call on the homerun.

JJ wins it for me.

The pressure was on him, after the Marlins stranded 8 runners in the 1st 3 innings.

Facing a very good lineup, in a hitters' bandbox, and JJ goes 6 scoreless, and gives us that chance to win.

Solid.

Oh...I told you they'd comeback, didn't I? Did you really expect this team to come into this series all down, just b/c of Sunday's game? HA! There's no quit in the 2008 Marlins. They might lose...but quit? Never.

this game will prove to be a huge confidance booster seeing as we beat moyer. if our starting pitchers can do this tomorrow and the day after i smell a sweep! only bad thing was controversial call but we said ok give them 2 we will get 4 :thumbup

Oh and FYI, both Hermida and Uggla are much better hitters on the road this year. I expect them to show us more these two series.

I'm going Uggla, for a few reasons. First off, he set the pace, getting that double in the second and scoring our first run, getting the single, and having a walk. Also, he really helped out Johnson (NBA DP, anybody?) who while getting a quality start, looked a little off his game (which is saying something, because he still looked OK). It's close, I like Hermidas offensive production, but Uggla had some offense and nice defense (which may shut some Phillies up about his ASG performance), and well, also he's looking a lot better now, and that's just a huge relief to actually be able to consider him for PotG...so I pick him. Little bit of bias, but hey, I know JJ is going to get it, so why not.

lol read this from the phills forum

Go Phills: If we lose this game you can go back to Ruiz's HORRIBLE swing on ball 4 with two guys on and one out with Johnson laboring. That was one of the worst swings on a bad ball I've ever seen.

Can anyone explain to me why we always seem to come out flat against the Marlins?

Are they that much better than us?

Fightns26:

No. Their not better than us. They are a mediocre team and we are a good team not playing the way that we should. someone please deport Carlos Ruiz and get him out of philly.

It looks like Phils fans have some humility:

"Go Phils:

It should be obvious to anyone watching.

It pains me to say so but I've watched them enough this season to realize they are better.

They have better pitching, just as much or more power, clutch hitting, one of the best young players in baseball (Ramerez) a real manager. A REAL FO who knows how to put together a winning team. On and on.

Florida has owned us in EVERY series and they are kicking our teeth in tonight.

They have a "real" team and deserve to win the East.

The Phils deserve to finish about 3rd because they don't address their needs, have an idiot for a manager and just play stupid baseball most of the time.

Have you ever just looked at all the stupid things they do as a team on a daily basis?

I love the Phils but I'm just calling em like I see em."
