BS and you know it, I was calling for his benching before the game started. I'm just rubbing it in now. This is a classic case of "I told you so".
August 14, 200817 yr Bump, Josh tearing it up again tonight. Its a good thing Fredi left him in there instead of going with Hermida, really riding the hot hand. Because Hermida was the hot hand? This is a classic case of playing the result. Playing the result, maybe....but with the way Hammer has looked lost at the plate combined with Looper on the mound, I would have thought getting another left handed bat in the lineup would have been a good decision. All I know is I'd rather have just about anyone at the plate right now other then Willingham with a runner in scoring position. :banghead OK, you want Gonzo to play because he played well in his last 2 starts a couple days ago. Do you sub him in for a guy on a 3 game hitting streak or a guy who is 0-8 with 4 strikeouts, 1 DP, and 0-4 with RISP? Fredi went with the 2nd one. I didn't agree with it because I hate seeing Gonzo in right, but Hermida has looked terrible against the Cards. I'd rather have Hermida going 0-4. At the very least, if I play Gonzo in LF, he's not playing out of position.
August 14, 200817 yr send him to aaa and give lo duca or mcphearson the call up hammer needs to get his swing back and theres no better place to do that then the PCL You do know these players have contracts, right? So? He can still get sent down. Forget it. I thought Hammer was getting about a mill per at least. He's only making 405K.
August 14, 200817 yr Hammer needs to stop striking out looking. He keeps on thinking he is going to get walked and thats a way out of his slump or something... honestly Id rather see him strike out swinging. But first he needs to FIGHT for that starting job. Sure Luis Gonzalez was an 0-for tonight but with some well hit balls... Hammer was absolute trash.
August 14, 200817 yr I agree with Renteria and those who think Hammer is legitimately hurt. The back problem is serious. Hammer is a guy who has always hit, just a good hitter, and since he came back he's a different guy out there. I have to believe it's the back and IMO he should probably be on the DL.
August 14, 200817 yr Hammer Hammer Hammer, fu*k you. I think the blame really goes to Fredi; I don't know why the Hammer is even in the lineup, he's already ruined a couple of games and he's either beat up or not hustling. His defense has improved dramatically, but unfortunately his bat is nowhere to be found. You can't have a player out there that's Hitting into DP's with the bags loaded, not swinging at pitches in the zone with 2 strikes and leaving people on base like there's a parade on the field. Hammer thanks for everything so far this season but you need to go find your swing back at the minors, not up here in the majors where it hurts us. See ya next year.. Perhaps

Perhaps OK, he's sucked, but I haven't seen a single play where Hammer doesn't hustle.
August 14, 200817 yr Can Dallas play LF? I seen several of you guys say that he once played OF, but IDK if there's any truth to that. Can he play LF? possibly as much as Willingham can, or better? I say demote Hammer back down to AAA and bring up Dallas. Let Hammer get out of this slump down there. lol

The talk of him playing OF mostly comes from a mistake on the roster page on MLB.com.
August 14, 200817 yr F*ck the god damn hammer. His ass should have purposely struck out. I was yelling at the T.V. DON'T SWING, DONT SWING, PLEASE DON'T HIT INTO A DP... f***ing sure enough. Bench his ass for a week
August 14, 200817 yr MAn i dont know what to do with josh hes just flat out sucking. He seems to be on a pitch or 2 every at bat fouling it straight back but then he either swings through one or goes down looking. I love josh but he cant keep hitting like this.

August 14, 200817 yr Willingham sucked last night. Hermida had sucked for a few games, thus the benching. Gonzo was doing well but sucked last night. (unfortunate) The Marlins sucked last night. (unfortunate)

(unfortunate) i wouldnt go as far to brand the whole team as sucking last night despite giving up 10 hits, nolasco did ok as he only gave up 2 runs in 6 innings, and jake had a nice game too the blame goes to willingham (been discussed plenty), gonzo for grounding into DP with bags loaded (overlooked a bit for the willingham incident) and the bullpen (4 runs in 3 innings - not like them as they have generally been great recently).

(unfortunate) The Marlins didn't suck. The pen was bad, and so where Gonzo and Hammer. Everyone else contributed.
