August 25, 200817 yr It is Stanton, and it isn't even a competition in my book. I'd go Morrison third.
August 25, 200817 yr Is Maybin really our best prospect at this point? yea him and miller are projected to be 2 of our top 10 prospects theese include stanton coghlan dominquez

August 25, 200817 yr Is Maybin really our best prospect at this point? yea him and miller are projected to be 2 of our top 10 prospects theese include stanton coghlan dominquez Miller is not a prospect. He's pitched 175 innings. Our top 10 is something like Maybin, Stanton, Morrison, Dominguez, West, Tucker, Skipworth, G. Sanchez, Coghlan, and Sinkbiel/Thompson/Raynor/Cruz/Whoever. And to the first guy, At this point? I'm confused, because Maybin is a top 10, if not top 5, prospect in all of baseball. They don't come much better
August 25, 200817 yr Until Stanton does well in Jupiter, I have Logan over Stanton. If Stanton proves himself in Jupiter next season, I'll have him over Logan.
August 25, 200817 yr My top 10 are: Maybin Morrison Stanton Tucker G. Sanchez Coghlan Thompson Dominguez West Sinkbeil
August 25, 200817 yr Until Stanton does well in Jupiter, I have Logan over Stanton. If Stanton proves himself in Jupiter next season, I'll have him over Logan. 35 HR for an 18 year old in Greensboro is pretty ridiculous. The K's are high, but the walks, avg, and adequacy versus LHP for his age is really something special. Morrison is having himself an amazing year also, but Stanton is out OPSing Logan in GB by over 100 points, at a year younger in age. I'm giving it to Stanton because of Logan's low HR total. Sure, Jupiter is tough, the BB/K is stellar, and the 2B are ferocious and should change as he gets older and into different parks, but I just can't ignore the raw power right now Stanton is dishing. Beinfest hit gold with this one. I'll be interested to see where BA slots our guys when the offseason lists come out. Regardless, I love how in one year we turned from a pitching heavy system into a hitter heavy system. I can't remember the last time we had a glut of hitters like this. Maybin, Stanton, Morrison, Dominguez, G. Sanchez, Skipworth, McPherson, Coghlan, Raynor, even maybe Petersen. Good times.
August 25, 200817 yr Maybin, Stanton, Morrison, Dominguez, G. Sanchez, Skipworth, McPherson, Coghlan, Raynor I can see each of these guys being legitimate major leaugers in the next few years. 2008: Maybin, Gaby, McPherson, Coghlan, Raynor (Albuquerque would be useless for all of them who haven't been. They'd just do what McDallas has been) 2009: Morrison, Dominguez 2010: Stanton 2011: (If we're lucky) Skipworth I'm lowest on Skip right now, but I think he'll be alright. I'd rank those guys like this: 1. Cam 2. Morrison 3. (More like 2b) Stanton 4. Gaby 5. Dominguez 6. Coghlan 7. Raynor 8. McDallas (only because of age and injury history. He's the most major league ready, imo) 9. Skip I'm not sure if more then 2 or 3 pitchers are in our top 10, and our top 5 might be all hitters.
August 25, 200817 yr Stanton certainly has a higher potential, but to me it's also about the safeness of the guy. Logan's showing that he "gets it". Rather than swinging for the fences and airing fly balls in the Jupiter park, he's hitting line drives into the gap. But also in Stanton's credit has been his increase in walks and BB/K (I'm unsure if he's K's have decreased, but I think they have aswell), showing that he's learning, willing to learn, and producing (a ton...) while learning. And like I said, if he produces in Jupiter next year, I'll be crowning him. I'm still wondering if he has the most HRs ever for an 18 year old but have never been able to find that kind of information. But yeah, our offensive posibilites now are lol-able. The only thing we're missing is a SS and hey, I think we have a pretty decent guy locked up for awhile. Also to Bob, Dallas has 360 MLB AB, doesn't count as a spec anymore.

August 26, 200817 yr Top 10 from a non Marlins fan 1. Cameron Maybin (speed and power from CF? sign me up!, but he needs to cut down on K's) 2. Mike Stanton ( this is some crazy OF they are building, HUGE power potential) 3. Kyle Skipworth ( has been compared to Joe Mauer, that's all I am saying) 4. Matt Dominguez ( he was drafted for his glove and has been hitting like a stud in his first full season chance) 5. Logan Morrison ( he is rated this high for 2 reasons 1) MONSTER power and good contact from 1B 2) It ends the Jake era) 6. Gaby Sanchez ( hmmm.... it is going to be a good problem but, a problem when him and Morrison are both ready) 7. Issac Galloway (this was a STEAL in the 8th round and he will be very, very....very good in the majors and oh yeah another OF) 8. Ryan Tucker ( I see him as a MR for a few years and then a very good closer, not sure he is a SP) 9. Chris Coghlan ( Sorry guys, but it is refreshing to see a top talent ready for Uggla to be traded) 10. Sean West ( Has a real chance to be the best SP on this list, too far away) 2011 Marlins scare me C Kyle Skipworth 1B Logan Morrison OR Gaby Sanchez SS Hanley Ramirez 2B Chris Coghlan 3B Matt Dominguez LF Issac Galloway CF Cameron Maybin RF Mike Stanton SP 1 Chris Volstad SP 2 Andrew Miller SP 3 Sean West SP 4 Josh Johnson ( he looks like an ace to me since his return) SP 5 Brett Sinkbeil CL Ryan Tucker Aaron Thompson is another guy who has more than enough talent to become a top prospect again. Volstad and Miller don't count as prospects to me anymore.

August 26, 200817 yr You don't think Raynor will be on the 2011 team? thats who i was forgetting Yea i think raynor would be in left IF he stays on the team
August 26, 200817 yr Issac Galloway was a steal in the late round. Solid at everything, spectacular at nothing. I hope he develops as he should, i.e. be more like Stanton and less like Hickman(although he does show occasional flashes) and Justin Jacobs.
August 26, 200817 yr Good list Joe. Here would be mine: 1. Maybin - Still the top guy 2. Morrison - What he has done in the FSL is so impressive. Too many people are sleeping on this kid. 3. Stanton - Has the chance to hit 40 home runs as an 18 year old. That is just about unheard of. 4. Coghlan - Closest to the bigs, has good speed, great eye at the plate, and I'm not worried about his defense at 2nd despite the numbers. 5. West - There is a reason the organization considers him untouchable. 6'8'' LHP who throw high 90's don't grow on trees. Needs to improve his control, but he is damn near unhittable. 6. Dominguez - We all knew about the great defense, nice to see him put up solid numbers already. 7. Skipworth - Should be the catcher of the future. 8. John Raynor - We all sleep on him, but I love what he brings to the table. IMO he will be one of our starting OFers next year, next to Maybin and Hermida. 9. Brad Hand - Probably our most talented pitcher in the low minors. 10. Gaby Sanchez - Nice to see him regain his prospect status. He is absolutely raking in Carolina, little old for his level though. Not as high yet on Ike Galloway as you are Joe, I read some pretty negative stuff on him from scouts before the draft. Was a great signing though and should be a fun guy to watch. Jose Torres is another young toolsy player that could develop into a top 5 prospect in the next couple years. Scott Cousins battled injuries all year, but I'm still pretty high on him. He's a guy that could surprise in spring training next year to take that OF spot away from Raynor. I like your 2011 lineup, but I don't think Sinkbeil will ever be a MLB SP. He is just getting torn to shred this year, and I've seen him pitch - not that impressive. I'm actually hoping something is wrong with his arm, because man...I really had high hopes for him coming into the year.
