November 11, 200817 yr This must be a really late April fools joke. Reeeaaaaallly late. I refuse to believe this is true.
November 11, 200817 yr So we tarded olsen and Willingham for a backup and two prospects? I thought we weren't doing a fire sale again....
November 11, 200817 yr So we tarded olsen and Willingham for a backup and two prospects? I thought we weren't doing a fire sale again.... 05 wasn't a fire sale.
November 11, 200817 yr So we tarded olsen and Willingham for nothing? I thought we weren't doing a fire sale again.... How is this real..
November 11, 200817 yr Even my proposed trades over the years have never been as stupid as this trade. This has just left me in utter disbelief and stunned. Is the market value for Willingham and Olsen that low? Plus, we didn't get a catcher in the deal. Why the hell do we need Emiliano Bonaficio? There better be a major move in the works that will replace Willingham in left and find a catcher. But, I can't even get my head around this deal. The Nationals just raped us in this trade.
November 11, 200817 yr I will not believe this until is official and it comes out in MLB.com. I REFUSE TO BELIVE THIS!
November 11, 200817 yr Rosenthal writes this enables the Marlins to move Uggla to 3B. Not sure if he's pulling that out of his, or if it's word he got. Without Olsen, the Marlins' rotation still will include right-handers Josh Johnson, Ricky Nolasco and Chris Volstad and left-hander Andrew Miller. The addition of Bonifacio will enable the team to move Dan Uggla to third base. Smolinski, 19, is coming off reconstructive knee surgery. He was the Nationals' second-round pick in the 2007 draft and Dean was their seventh rounder out of New Caney (Texas) High School that same year. http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/8779806...sen,-Willingham
November 11, 200817 yr P.J. Dean better be the incarnation of Josh Beckett this has got to be the worst trade I could have imagined ... well, I guess that we are going from a "surprisingly fun" offseason to a very long one
November 11, 200817 yr Salary Impact C John Baker $405,000 1B Gaby Sanchez $400,000 2B Dan Uggla $4,400,000 3B Jorge Cantu $4,500,000 SS Hanley Ramirez $5,500,000 LF Jeremy Hermida $2,500,000 < - I'm hoping anyways, but still move him to RF. Same crap. CF Cameron Maybin $400,000 RF Cody Ross $3,000,000 B Dallas McPherson $550,000 B Wes Helms $950,000 B Andino/Bonifacio $410,000 B BACK UP OUTFIELDER B BACK UP CATCHER SP Josh Johnson $1,750,000 SP Ricky Nolasco $3,000,000 SP Chris Volstad $405,000 SP Andrew Miller $1,350,000 SP Anibal Sanchez $420,000 RP Matt Lindstrom $420,000 RP Joe Nelson $800,000 RP Leo Nunez $420,000 RP Reynel Pinto $420,000 RP Logan Kensing $550,000 RP Eulogio De La Cruz $400,000 RP Dan Meyer $400,000 $33,350,000 + needing two players I'm trading Gregg and AMEZAGA (No way he sticks around with both Andino and Bonifacio around) off this team as well, and Treanor and J. Delgado are getting DFA's. (Maybe Andino DFA if they keep Bonifacio over him for the bench). Jacobs wasn't a dump, but this clearly looks like it. Those A ball kids better be awesome in 2 years. I'm optimistic, but I mean. Can a brother get a little power or K/9? Seriously. The market must have been balls horrible for these two. I don't blame them, but jesus. I swear to god this has to set something else up.
November 11, 200817 yr According to FOXSports.com's Ken Rosenthal, the Nationals have picked up Scott Olsen and Josh Willingham from the Marlins for Emilio Bonifacio and a package of minor leaguers. Two of the minor leaguers are right-hander P.J. Dean and infielder Jake Smolinski. Unless there's someone much better going to Florida that we don't know about yet, this could be a huge steal for the Nationals. We wouldn't trade either Olsen or Willingham for that trio, much less both. If the Marlins like Bonifacio that much, it could mean that Dan Uggla is on the way out. The Nats could pencil in Willingham at first base and then move him to the outfield if Nick Johnson is healthy. rotoworld agrees with us that this is ridiculous
November 11, 200817 yr The only joke here is the florida marlins not the trade. Oh well, this is comes with being a marlins fan I guess :banghead

November 11, 200817 yr Smolinski is the stud in this deal but it seems to me we could have done better for Olsen. Hammer is damaged and the word is out. You knew he was going to wind up in a package. The thought of Bonifacio as a replacement for Alfredo makes me want to hurl As for Ramirez once the RedSox stepped into the fray we weren't getting anything from Texas.
November 11, 200817 yr So this means uggla is going to be shipped? Rosenthal reports Uggla moves to 3B, but not sure if he's making that up. Defense, baby! Upgrades at 1B and 2B... check!
November 11, 200817 yr P.J. Dean better be the incarnation of Josh Beckett this has got to be the worst trade I could have imagined ... well, I guess that we are going from a "surprisingly fun" offseason to a very long one Ok, I'm pissed too. But let's not forget - we only traded Olsen and Willingham - you don't get a Beckett for those two guys. But............you do get a Max Ramirez or at least a hell of a lot more than this.

PLEASE be something besides karma for the Jacobs trade
November 11, 200817 yr I swear to god this has to set something else up. God, you would hope so! It's the only way I can wrap my head around it.
