April 3, 200917 yr YES Network reports that the Mets have officially signed OF Gary Sheffield. The veteran will provide a quality bat off the bench and some insurance for Ryan Church in right field.
April 3, 200917 yr i thought that the phillies would go hard after him since they have no right handed bench player but this is a good signing by the mets. he can replace murphy or church in the corner outfield when they face a lefty. also a dangerous pitch hitter when he doesn't start but i was hoping he'd hit his 500th homerun as a marlin.
April 3, 200917 yr grrrrrrrrrrrreeaaaaat. its bad enough the marlins probably didnt even contact him (maybe they did, i dont know) but he's going to the frikin mets. i hate it when players i like go to rival teams.
April 3, 200917 yr Good for him I guess. The Marlin fan in me saw him in teal with a great season. Now the Marlin fan in me sees a mid-season release after a .025 average in the first half.
April 3, 200917 yr The Marlins needed a left-handed bat moreso than a right-handed bat. Sheffield is going to the Mets to be a part-time player against left-handed pitching, which he didn't hit well last year.
April 3, 200917 yr This wasn't the right place for Sheff for the exact reason Erick said. He hits from the wrong side.
April 3, 200917 yr in addition to signing sheffield, the mets have also unveiled their new logo this afternoon
April 4, 200917 yr in addition to signing sheffield, the mets have also unveiled their new logo this afternoon Copywritten and trademarked by Rabbethan. (Memo to self, it's impossible to control anything once a radio station puts it on their website and talks about it.)
April 4, 200917 yr I was gonna say! I remember seeing that logo on 790s web site a year or two ago. Shame Rab, you could be making money on that.
April 4, 200917 yr The Mets are building a World Series team unfortunately for them its the 1997 Marlins starring Sheff, Castillo and Livan. Too bad Moises didn't comeback.
April 4, 200917 yr I think Sheffield is going to hit #500 at Dolphin Stadium next weekend nad then promptly retire. He has as much respect for the Marlins as anyone nad it would still be great for him to git 500 there.

A good radio show. Better than a good portion of the radio shows down here.
April 4, 200917 yr A good radio show. Better than a good portion of the radio shows down here. Most of the shows down here are no good (considering that an entire station is no good), that doesn't mean that Rosenberg wasn't a joke, a shock-jock wannabe. He was pretty good until he got moved to the mornings and his ego exploded.

April 4, 200917 yr I concur with Rabb, Sid was terrible. There is a reason he can't hold down a job for longer than a 2-3 years...
