April 28, 200917 yr Is Hanley even playing tonight? I assumed he wouldn't be playing again until at least they can get the swelling down, which even with ice and cortisone can take a couple of days. Unfortunately he has already been ruled out for tonight.
April 28, 200917 yr The only move I would for sure is removing Bonifacio from the lineup. The logical next move then would be to bring someone off the bench to replace him. Helms? I would not mind seeing more Helms in the lineup. Honestly, with the various talents and flexibility we have, it would make sense to use different lineups for different teams/pitchers. We do have a lot of options. Without offering any concrete ideas, I will say that shaking things up sounds good to me.
April 28, 200917 yr You have Hanley hurting and unavailable, Cantu is far from 100%, if you bring in Helms you weaken your bench and minimize the options Fredi has mid to late in games. While it hasn't been pretty (and not counting Sheffield's or any other errors) EB has been on base six of the last seven games, something that can't be said for some other starters. Also Frisaro just picked up on something I posted a day or two previous, that Gaby Sanchez has started playing 3rd in NOLA, pushing CC aside, either two of the last three games or three of the last four, I don't remember which and I don't have time to look it up again, but I've thought for a while it's an option under consideration. Until Cantu is healthy I don't think he changes positions and risks another or compounding his existing injury, perhaps later, but Sanchez isn't getting playing time at 3rd for nothing.

April 28, 200917 yr Well, Baker does lead-off. There's just one out and no one on 75% of the time. I laughed. Interesting ideas about Hermida hitting leadoff, the team really does need some kind of shakeup. I'm just not personally willing to throw Maybin to the wolves right now, I remember what he did last September. Have teams really figured him out that quickly? Maybe so, but that's when a player has to make adjustments. I also remember reading reports last season that he got off to a slow start in the minor leagues. Some guys are just like that, who knows... its just way too early to tell. For the 4/28 game against the Mets, I just want to see Ricky get back on track. He was our ace last season and we need him to be a stopper, we need to stop this skid and people always say that good pitching beats good hitting. Time to step up and deliver like we know he can.
April 28, 200917 yr Here's tonight lineup speaking of lineups: Bonifacio 3B Maybin CF Baker C Cantu 1B Hermida LF Uggla 2B Ross RF Amezaga SS Nolasco P.

April 28, 200917 yr Didn't Ricky break up Maholm's no-no last week? I wouldn't be so quick to say he is an easy out
April 28, 200917 yr Who knows, maybe a strange lineup configuration is what we need to break out the slump! Stranger things have happened.
April 29, 200917 yr By no means am I suggesting we keep the Boner-Maybin combo atop the lineup for a prolonged period but considering we won last night, Fredi deserves some credit for changing things around. Boner got his 1st multi hit game since the 1st game in Atlanta way back on the 14th and Maybin collected his 1st RBI (2nd of the year) in terms of bringing home another player.
April 29, 200917 yr They are back at the top of the lineup again today. And Uggla gets the day off which perhaps isnt suprising given that he is 1-17 against Santana. Bonifacio 2B, Maybin CF, Helms 3B, Cantu 1B, Hermida LF, Paulino C, Ross RF, Amezaga SS, Johnson P

Bonifacio 2B, Maybin CF, Helms 3B, Cantu 1B, Hermida LF, Paulino C, Ross RF, Amezaga SS, Johnson P That might be one of the worst 1-2-3 combos in baseball haha. And it still kills me that Paulino and Ross are 6/7 while EB/Maybin are at the top. Yuck. Hopefully they produce nonetheless.

I like surrounding the Pitchers spot by speed, only thing Emil and Maybin should worry about today is making Johan pitch a lot and not swing at everything, even tho Johan has great control at the very least they need to just make contact... please dont combine for 8 k's, thats all I ask for.
