May 5, 200917 yr Tough one seeing as how Hanley had four hits but I gave up to Hopper. He had 3 hits. Scored two of the three runs. Hanley would have been my second choice but I gave it to the pen. Lindstrom looked encouraging and used his slider effectively, which is the most important thing for him. Badenhop with three solid innings and Pinto, despite his inconsistencies, has been good of late.
May 5, 200917 yr I voted for the pen, for preventing the Reds scoring any more in the 8th and then giving us 5 innings of scoreless ball after that, giving us every opportunity to win the game.

When Baker catches him he throws mainly his fastball. I'm starting to think Baker is afraid of that slider hitting the dirt in front of him, something he is starting to show once again that he can't handle. Paulino replaces him and all of a sudden that slider is being called and Matt is effective. I know the switch was made because of the pitcher/batter match-up, but it's something to keep an eye on.
May 5, 200917 yr I voted for the bullpen. I went back and took a look at the replay video with the throwing error in the bot 14th. Its a Good thing the ump didnt notice Hanley running out of line, b/c that sure looks like what happened. Im surprised the reds didnt argue about that.

May 5, 200917 yr Where are all the hopper haters now? It's amusing how someone can throw one bad inning, and all of the 'send him to the minors!' posts start piling on. One brilliant game afterwards, all those people disappear .... He was fantastic last night and it's good to know we can rely on him in a close game like this.

Plus he looks to be getting locked in at the plate. Also it seems as though anything uggla hits will be caught no matter where or how hard.

Just terrible luck ... that near walk-off HR was so close to clearing the wall. His luck has got to turn around soon.
