May 5, 200916 yr Argh, when I saw the thread topic I thought he left the game early which could maybe be a sign that he was being called up. :-\

Happens relatively often as a last minute decision though. I've heard of guys playing in a game and being taken out because they've been traded as well
May 6, 200916 yr Author Gaby Sanchez, 1b, Marlins: Sanchez, 25, sprained his right knee yesterday and had to leave the game for Triple-A New Orleans. Sanchez was covering home plate after an errant throw from center field when Round Rock?s Yordany Ramirez collided with him at home. Sanchez applied the tag to record the out, but was knocked down and left the game. The Double-A Southern League MVP in 2008, Sanchez is hitting .345/.414/.517 in 23 games with 11 walks and 14 strikeouts. No word yet on how much time the Marlins expect Sanchez to miss. http://www.baseballamerica.com/blog/prospects/?p=3739
May 7, 200916 yr can't believe this :banghead :banghead :banghead Best part is that I can actually imagine you doing this.
May 7, 200916 yr No word yet on length huh. 4-6 weeks Please tell me this is a joke... First baseman Gaby Sanchez was in town to see a doctor about a knee injury that is likely to put him out of action for four to six weeks. Sanchez injured his right knee in a collision at home plate on Tuesday with New Orleans. He was examined Tuesday in Miami and was awaiting the results of a MRI. But sources said he likely suffered a MCL sprain. Sanchez was off to a hot start. He was hitting .345 with four homers and 16 RBI for New Orleans. http://miamiherald.typepad.com/fish_bytes/...nee-injury.html
May 7, 200916 yr we likely weren't seeing him until late june-early july anyway so I don't think it makes much of a difference.
May 7, 200916 yr Why was he coverin home on a play from center? Shouldnt the pitcher be backing up home and the catcher at the plate.
May 7, 200916 yr we likely weren't seeing him until late june-early july anyway so I don't think it makes much of a difference. But still, I was hoping we would could get him up as soon of possible, because Bonifacio really shouldn't be starting right now. And it's a huge bummer because if these injuries start to occur often, it could seriously hinder the potential of his career.

This sucks because now Sanchez and Morrison are out for awhile, but in the end none of these guys are making or breaking the team. If Anibal, Nolasco, and Miller/Taylor can't throw 5 good innings, and Penn/Badenhop keep blowing games in long relief, getting a little extra from 3B is irrelevant. I'm concerned about the long term. Let Gaby heal. Get him back in AAA to get whatever final reps he needs, and it looks like he'll be competing for a roster spot in 2010.
May 8, 200916 yr I still have my doubts that he is a starting caliber player in the Majors btw, especially since his bat wont play at 1B and thats the only position he can competently play.

I don't think they've done terribly. The only thing that's terrible is that we've had to use them so many times b/c 60% of our SP has sucked. They are fine in the long relief role. Most long relievers / spot starters are mediocre, anyway. Hopper has actually been fantastic the past couple of outings.
