June 9, 200917 yr Chad James doesn't throw hard. Gets his fastballs around 88-90 MPH, but can get it up to 94 MPH. He is considered signable, but may choose to go to Oklahoma State instead of going Pro. http://toronto.bluej...tent_id=4521367 video of James biggest plus about James is his mechanics, won't need to be tweaked in the minors. LOL Miller goes #19
June 9, 200917 yr It isnt a bad pick, they just passed on a much better pitcher for signability reasons, something the Marlins have rarely done and to do it now pisses me off.
June 9, 200917 yr Pass on Josh Beckett 2 why dont you. Miller is all over the place where he throws. Sure he throws hard and has great stuff, but what good is that stuff if he can't get it over the plate?
June 9, 200917 yr Well, with the way the Marlins work I'm not dissapointed. I'm sure we'll get a very good pitching prospect for Uggla.
June 9, 200917 yr I would like it if they would've drafted a pitcher who has more than just a fastball and a slider. I'm not entirely happy with the pick, but at least his mechanics are a plus at this point. I hope I'm not right in that he becomes Taylor Tankersley 2.0.
June 10, 200917 yr Don't you guys think Arizona is getting too many position players? I mean you can't win without pitching.
June 10, 200917 yr Marlins 2nd round pick- Bryan Berglund, RHP, Royal HS, Simi Valley, Calif. http://baseballbegin...erglund-report/ apparently he has an "outstanding" slider with an ok changeup and a 90-92 MPH fastball
June 10, 200917 yr Comparing Shelby Miller to Beckett is like comparing John Raynor to Josh Hamilton. It isn't close. Shelby Miller is Ryan Tucker. Literally hundreds of guys have come out of high school in the past decade fitting the profile of 96 MPH fastball combined with no control whatsoever and not being able to throw secondary pitches. The only difference that gets guys like Spike all hot and bothered is the fact that he is from Texas and three times in his life Shelby Miller reached back and threw 98 in front of scouts. If he was Beckett 2 the Rangers and more than a dozen other teams do not pass on him. It's not worth the millions of dollars it would cost to sign him for the less than 5% chance he has to become a front line starter.
June 10, 200917 yr Author JR Murphy picked by the Yankees is a monster. There's one kid from my school who will be picked eventually. I'll let you know if/when he goes.

Go back and look, I have been begging for us to draft Miller for months.
June 10, 200917 yr Cooper is a small fast guy (5-9, 165) who played football as well as baseball. At this point in his career he doesn't possess much power and is more of a slap hitter.
June 10, 200917 yr Author A kid from Trinity Christian in Lake Worth got picked by the Reds. http://mlb.mlb.com/media/video.jsp?topic_id=4961152&content_id=4537499 Look at the pitch he throws 10 seconds in. :o -------- We just picked U Kentucky's SS
