The "I dislike Renyel Pinto very much" Thread

Featured Replies

He, too, has been better than Lindstrom (for what it's worth).

Pinto just walks too many guys. It's frustrating, really.

I wouldn't mind sending down Pinto for Lindstrom when Lindstrom is ready.

But If we keep him, for the love of God Fredi, play him in blowouts.

Yes, he does walk batters from time to time. But other times he's worked us out of jams so the consistency is what is lacking. What other lefties do you want to bring up? The Tank??! HA! I'd rather have Pinto.

You like to have lefties because they are typically strong against left-handed batters. Pinto is really not great against lefties.

Can't even say he's good against them, really.

.236/.368/.376 career line against lefties.

He's actually much better against right-handed hitters...probably b/c of the changeup.

I really don't understand all the hatred for Pinto. He has been in the league for a couple of years, the guy has great stuff (amazing changeup) and for the most part gets the job done. Sure he may lack control at times but when he puts it together he can be extremely solid. Do you all remember Pinto at the beginning of last year? He was lights out until Fredi overworked him. The dude is coming off an injury, give him some time he'll be fine.

Despite not seeing last night's game and Pinto giving up the lead, I am pretty sick and frustrated with him. Having said that, unless we have a decent replacement option, I do not think we should simply get rid of him, because sometimes, albeit on rare occasions, he can be a good pitcher.

He can be pretty dominate. I think because he's overused at times that is when he gets in trouble. Like I said, who are you going to call up?? Tank?! HA!

The fact that we put him in to face lefties and lefties hit 80 points higher against him annoys me.

X2.

Still, he has a .666 OPS against this year. That's pretty darn good, and I did not realize how good it was. And that's around his career avg, which is .691. His WHIP is high, yes, but hitters generally make extremely poor contact against him. If he could maintain those SLG-against numbers but drop the walks it appears as if he could really be lights-out. Wow, I was very much a hater, but his stats have made me rethink my position.

When he goes a few games of scoreless innings like he has had this month this thread will disappear and not much will be said about him other than the pen is doing a great job. One bad game and it will reappear. It's his destiny in the pen. He's the whooping boy there.

Not really. When he had those few scoreless innings, we still complain. He always puts men on base, and it pisses us off.

lol i never liked pinto the dude looks like he is oging to blow a game everythime he comes in....well at least he isn't darren oliver x.x

It seems like for the most part the past 2 seasons in any given game Pinto is completely hit or miss. When he goes out there and 4 pitch walks the first batter Fredi should instantly pull him...I don't think I've ever seen a game where he starts off that way and doesn't completely implode. However, Fredi never does that, and basically concedes the games in which he has no command.
