August 12, 200916 yr The Phillies freeze up against them and forget how to play baseball. Nobodyin Miami goes to Marlins games. This team is good. Seriously, where areall the fair-weather Miami Hurricanes fans? Can't they latch on to theMarlins for a few months until college football returns? Hell, theMarlins are giving away two-for-one tickets and still no one shows up.Embarrassing. Their announcers are journalism school rejects. How many more idiosyncratic, nonsensical pronunciations can they make?Pat Burrell is not hitting "four-hundred-twenty-four" on the season,he's hitting .424. See the difference? Ugh. They all want to be discjockeys, but don't seem to have enough talent for even that. The Phillies freeze up against them and forget how to play baseball. Theirbroadcast network runs commercials for shows on other stations thatDURING THE CURRENT TELECAST. I know Santa Claus told the little kids togo to Gimbles when Macy's didn't have the right toy, but that was amovie. This is real. Theirplayers can do no wrong. Even an error is someone else's fault becausetheir superhero players could never do anything that didn't result inperfection. Oh, and they always touch home, even when they don't. Theyplay in a stadium named for the local NFL franchise. At least fansdon't show up for that team, either. Seriously, folks, Miami has had aMajor League franchise for a dozen years now. Why did it take so longto get baseball back in Washington? Give me a solid reason. Just one. Have I mentioned that the Phillies freeze up against them and forget how to play baseball? They've won two World Series championships in the last eight years and no one cares. Not even the owners. Juan Pierre. Thecurrent owner used to own the Expos. He didn't like that deal, so hesold the Expos and bought the Marlins. How does this make sense? Thatwhole "the Phillies can't beat them" thing again. When did the Marlinsbecome the Dallas Cowboys to my Washington Redskins? When, damnit? http://www.rollingdoughnut.com/2005/04/twelve_reasons_why_i_hate_the.html :lol
August 12, 200916 yr Number 1 Is wrong since they swept us in Miami. 3 Is stupid. Apparently this guy has short term memory since 1,4,8 and 12 are the same and he obviously hasn't watched baseball before last week. Screw it this whole f***ing list is made by some idiotic Phillie fan.
August 12, 200916 yr If I ever heard a announced say "he's hitting point-four-hundred-twenty-four" or "four hundred twenty four hundredths" I'd know it's the first time they've ever seen a baseball game.
August 12, 200916 yr If I ever heard a announced say "he's hitting point-four-hundred-twenty-four" or "four hundred twenty four hundredths" I'd know it's the first time they've ever seen a baseball game. Also because it'd be four hundred twenty four thousandths. :whistle

August 12, 200916 yr The link seems to say it's from April 2005? So that would explain the 2 World Series in 8 years remark. And when was Pat Burrell ever hitting .424?

August 12, 200916 yr If I was a fan of another team, the main reason I would hate the Marlins is how we manage to put a decent product on the field for such a low budget. For fans of teams paying guys $20m a year, it must be painful getting their asses handed to them by a bunch of rookies and low earners.

August 13, 200916 yr Not sure why many of u are saying how stupid and redundant the list is. Thats the point. It was made by a Phillies fan. So, from our viewpoint, the list is obviously horribly wrong, stupid, redundant, and biased towards the Phils. Thats why its meant to be funny to us, which is why it was posted here. I found it funny how absurd it is but im not making replies that say "That guy is wrong"... duh
August 13, 200916 yr Who cares what they think? It makes sense for a rival to dislike us. I'm sure we could come up with a similar list as to why we dislike them. Moving on.

August 13, 200916 yr It was a silly list. However, it did raise a point that is a pet peeve of mine. About the four hundred and twenty-four thing. Can't stand it when announcers are always looking for the longest way to say something. I thought quality announcing was all about using the right words, not the most words. Examples of redundant and just plain stupid quotes that you now hear constantly: 1) (Basketball) "He can really score the basketball." As opposed to scoring the what? 2) (FB, BB,BB) "They are a great team on the defensive side of the ball." How 'bout, "They're great defensively." 3) (All Broadcasting) "Blah, blah, blah, IF YOU WILL ... " If we will what? Except the fact that you've already said something? Anyone else with their own set of broadcast peeves?

August 13, 200916 yr For the record, though most of us have said it a million times. We generally love Rich and Tommy on here. They are homers but they are fun and still respectful of other teams. I know I've laughed out loud with them many times. I realized yesterday that these guys are such a big part of my summer life. Sometimes I find myself participating in their conversations. That's when I noticed that, with them often being so laid back, its like: 5-7 times a week, I get three hours to sit back, have a beer, and just hang out with these two. Even the worst broadcasters can become part of your life if you watch and listen constantly. Ever notice how many people weep when a longtime broadcaster passes away? Im just sayin

Im just sayin Wow, I never really participate in their conversations, but I totally know what you mean. I have a job with strange hours so I don't often get to hang out with a lot of my buddies, so watching the Marlins play when I get home seems to provide some companionship in a weird way.
