And add to the fact that he has played pretty good defense at a new position and I feel he currently deserves to be 2nd in the rookie of the year voting if it ended today to Happ.

I feel Coghlan has played LF better than Hermida has played the outfield. Bold statement? Sure, but from what I have seen Coghlan has played above average in LF (remember, not his natural position, so a terrible argument to use) other than the Astros series.

 

And I'd like to remind you that those around 20-30 OPS points are the difference when Coghlan has 80 or so more AB's. His numbers are over a longer period of time and have shown that he has a longer period of success. Unless McCutchen plays super amazing and puts himself above Coghlan in certain stats and gets more AB's, I feel Coghlan>McCutchen this season. And might I add voters don't give a damn about defense when voting for ROTY.

And it's 40-50 points in OPS, not 20-30. McCutchen has created 5 less runs in 60 less PA. And that doesn't include his superior base running. And the huge gap in defense.

I think Hanson beats him when all is said and done b/c Happ with his good numbers has also been pretty fortunate.

He has been pretty fortunate, his BABIP is .250 which is really low , but they each have like 5 starts left. I know anything can happen, but with the way Happ has been pitching, I'm not sure Hanson can catch him.

Never did agree with a pitcher winning ROY, but I think it goes that way again. Coghlan will get some votes but fall way short.

Not just that but his position changes his value. It's a lot easier to find that kind of production in LF than at 2B. We as fans sometimes lose sight of that because we've had great production from 2B basically for the history of the franchise.
