Posted June 9, 201014 yr Anyone know it? I'm putting in a resume to manage this team, if anyone does. Before anyone says "what do you want him to do? he has no bullpen...stop playing the result"...I basically called that Fransisco hit before it happened. Check the gamethread. Fredi Gonzalez does not know how to manage a bullpen for sh*t. A sh*tty bullpen and a sh*tty manager is not a good combination. No one should defend Fredi Gonzalez tonight. Enough with the excuses, already. 2 games in a row now where he hasn't put the team in the best position to win. In other words, he's not doing his job.
June 9, 201014 yr Author also why not use Tank vs Utley. I done get it. That didn't really matter to me. Utley's just as good against lefties.
June 9, 201014 yr The guy has an .842 OPSa vs righties. What more do you need to know to not pitch him vs righties? I really honestly and seriously question the mental stability of this guy sometimes. I really do. I'm completely at my end with this guy. The day he goes is the day I'm a better person.
June 9, 201014 yr While our bullpen ain't top notch, nights like these don't instill a lot of confidence that even if we had a great bullpen Fredi would know how to use it. Sometimes you ride the hand that's hot or leave a guy in to work out of his mess, I get that. But sometimes, when your team is scuffling, you gotta play the numbers. Especially when the guys in your bullpen are recent call ups and may or may not be "settled" in/proven this season.
June 9, 201014 yr I use to call these threads annoying. And I still say Fredi is pretty good at mixing and matching the lineups, defensive replacements (for the most part), pinch runners, getting the team ready for games, etc... However, his bullpen management has been ABSOLUTELY DREADFUL since the day he joined the Marlins. Even when we had a pretty good bullpen he still found ways to mess it up. If Fredi could just let somebody else manage when to bring in bullpen replacements, we would probably be better off.
June 9, 201014 yr Author Why not just fire Beinfest, the guy who gave us a non-existent bullpen. Would suck to fire one of the best GM's in baseball.
June 9, 201014 yr Why not just fire Beinfest, the guy who gave us a non-existent bullpen. Why not tell Loria did he shoulda given Beinfest some payroll flexibility ($$$) to pick up some decent relievers on the free agent market before the season started. The Marlins were the only team that did not spend money on the FA market while other teams (especially in the division) were improving themselves. I'd rather see Fredi and Presley fired before anyone else gets the axe

I'd rather see Fredi and Presley fired before anyone else gets the axe There's plenty of blame to go around, the fact the Marlins spent no money this off-season is a big part of the struggles for this year. I'm sorry just because you got lucky the last five years from picking up scraps doesn't mean that plan will always work out. Fredi like all managers makes bad decisions and in recent weeks it appears those have cost the team a few wins. If the manager continues to make these decisions and the Fo believes they are a contender then something would need to change. Finally when they went with pretty much a whole new coaching staff, I for life of me will never be able to figure out their keeping Jim Presley.
June 9, 201014 yr What we really need is Fredi's E-mail/phone number. That way we can E-mail/text him who to use out of the bullpen during games. I have no idea what he was thinking leaving Tankersley out there to pitch to Ben Francisco. If it were me, you would've seen Leo Nunez out there trying to complete the four out save. Fredi has cost us a few games this season and meanwhile most of the blame belongs to our bullpen there are still several situations where he could have managed the game a lot better. I'm not against bringing in a new manager to finish the season. It worked in 2003 and worked for the Miami Heat in 2006.
June 9, 201014 yr I don't really mind Fredi as much as most do, but if the Marlins do replace him I hope they bring in someone with more experience. I liked the Jack McKeon hiring, but wasn't too thrilled with bringing in people like Girardi or Gonzalez. Fredi does seem like a novice manager sometimes to the point where I'm surprised he managed so many years in the minor leagues.
