Young is finally living up to the hype

Young has had two solid years already in Minnesota but this is definitely his break out year with all his Potential and he's still only 24!

 

Buster Posey has been a great player since his days at FSU and then tore it up in the minors. He's going to be a top 5 catcher in this league for many years to come.

 

Good to see more prospects turning out well because it seems in previous years guys haven't lived up to potential like Alex Gordon, Jeff Francouer, Johnny Peralta, Brandon Wood and Jeremy Hermida to name a few.

I looked up Albert... he has had 10 months in which he OPSed 1.160 or better. In April '06 he put up .346 .509 .914 1.423. There's an article about Posey on ESPN today in which a scout was compering him to great hitters of the past but I don't have insider so don't know who they compared him to. He reminds me of Miguel in the way he uses the whole field. Obviously he doesn't have Miguel's power.

That's scary good.

Luis Gonzalez had two good months in 2001 (13 and 12 HR) and (1.226 and 1.350 OPS).

 

The OPS is good for Posey, but he doesn't have the long balls and probably won't.

Yeah Posey won't really ever send more then 15 or 20 Homeruns to the cheap seats but he could be a batting title contender for years to come.

Delmon Young was the most heralded hitting prospect in some time. His numbers so far in his career were "solid", but all things considered that was a disappointment. I've been watching him for a while now and he's definitely breaking out and becoming the player that he was expected to. But when you realize he's not even 25 yet, it makes a lot more sense. He's seemingly been around for years and was already the centerpiece of a trade which sent his original team to the WS, but it just shows how young he was when he broke into the majors.

He already has 8 in 182 AB's this year. He's definitely good for 15-20 HR's per year. He put up great power #'s in the minors, as well.

i had always wondered what happened to delmon. that trade is looking very even on both sides now. i think it was delmon for bartlett and garza.

The problem is the Twins will only have two more years of club control of delmon. You can't really say it's even on both sides when Garza has actually performed the two years prior, and the Rays have him for 3 more years after this season. Delmon actually being good does even it out more but it still favors the Rays greatly unless Garza falls off a clip or Delmon becomes Albert Pujols.

This really isn't fair. We were supposed to have Posey, not the Giants. And Hermida was supposed to put up those numbers for us.

I'd actually like to see him get it, and knowing him, he can make up that BA differential, whether him just getting a little better for the final month or Votto dropping off slightly.

Posey or Infante could keep him from winning the triple crown by winning the batting title even if they don't get to the 502 PAs. Infante is htting .350 and Posey .342. Both may fall short of the 502 PAs but if they keep hittign at these levels they would have a buffer and even with the ABs they need added to their ABs they could still win it.
