i am so f***ing sick of seeing our best f***ing relievr not in the game at all when we really need it. put him in in the bottom of the 10th. wtf are you savng him for if you cant get there? if we had any type of bullpen, any at all, we would be like 10-15 games over .500.

Also, get rid of Cody ross. I am so f***ing sick of seeing him do absolutely nothing but strike out and get jammed and pop up. go with the youth movement and bring up ceda, west, maybin and get a loogy like beimel at the deadline while getting rid of sanabia, cody, cantu, and tank.

Do you mean send Sanabia down to the minors or something?

Also, what's the point of getting Joe Beimel? You want to get rid of Tankersley to get another Tankersley?

ya, i meant minors for sanabia. i think he will be good eventually. and tankersley f***ing sucks. seriously, just awful. another one of those i dont give a sh*t what stats say. beimel is much better than him.

He's only given up 3 hits to lefties how can you say he sucks. He's a LOOGY his job is to get lefties out and he does it well...

the problem is our stupid managers like to keep him in against lefties

I think people are forgetting that there was a great comeback effort. In all the posts I read of people complaining about losing it in the 10th, people seem to lose sight of the fact we shouldn't have even been in that game in the first place. Sanabia sucks. Teams shouldn't be in games where they give up 7 runs in the first 2 innings.

The offense has been cold most of July. I see this loss as more of a positive than many people think it is, due to the fact that I see the offense beginning to get their act together, and a leader that we have lacked this entire year with Hanley faltering, has finally emerged in Dan Uggla.

Yes, we're 7.5 games back and unlikely to take the wild card, but that doesn't mean we should give up trying to think about winning each and every game we can. The only thing we should do is trade Cantu. Everything else should stay put. I see a positive future in this lineup, and the bullpen will always be an unknown year to year, this just happened to be a year where the darts didn't stick to the dartboard.

Morrison is the right kind of bat for this lineup, we finally have that power back in the lineup, and once we can find that consistent 3-5 starters who can each give us 6 innings on most nights, we will truly be contenders. We aren't far away at all.

Finally some optimism form someone that's not me or Ashraf!

You're right but to add on another move we need to make is calling up Vanden Hurk to replace Sanabia in the rotation.

We just need to keep winning all the games we can and if means playoff or not well only the baseball gods can control that.

If anything I'd love to finish the season at something close to 88-74.

bringing up vandenhurk is like doing the same thing everytime. until he can prove he can go deep into ballgames consistently, and not just tonight, then we bring him up. anyways, he really needs to learn how to be a reliever.

Vanden Hurk never did learn how to go deep in ballgames, but other than that his numbers weren't bad last year, and that Nate Robertson was brought in to also not go deep in games, yet do so without any high-end pitching ability like Vanden Hurk has, is simply quite a head scratcher.

i really dont want anybody in this rotation who cant go deep into ballgames any game they pitch in. what is the point of being in the rotation then? especially vanden hurk who everybody knows can be a great reliever but for some reason he just doesnt click when he comes out of the pen.

how can anyone see this loss as a positive? We rushed a dude in the minors...he got rocked...our bullpen blew it again... so we hit some home runs...who cares.

Because we are showing the heart that makes us the Florida Marlins and not the Orioles Pirates or Royals. All season, these games were OVER from the beginning. For the last week and a half we've shown the heart to at least battle back and get in these games... with the Rockies and Braves we did it TWICE each. Today we did it again and had a smile on my face despite not being able to cash it in. A month ago, nobody expected this kind of game from us. Watching us crawl over and die was horrific. This loss hurts but I'd rather we show some fight and get some respect. This is why we are the Marlins. And this is a positive thing despite the result.

Pick you're poison.

A guy who's pitched in the MLB many times before and has shown he can go at least 5 innings almost every start

or

A 21 year old who was rushed into the starting role at the MLB Level and hasn't gone more then 4.1 innings in a start and is on an 80 pitch limit.

Vanden Hurk it is!

This is when you know you're fighting a losing cause. Numbers do count, and based on his numbers against lefties, they show he's a LOOGY. Tank was poorly used under Fredi, and somewhat under Edwin. Once used properly, he's an important and good reliever.

What's so high leverage about getting 1 or 2 lefties out?

It would help if his defense made a play for him once in a while as well.

Also whenever you're done throwing this hissy fit we can start talking serious baseball not, "he's a f***ing choker. i don't care wwhate the numbers say".

He's gonna be in line for only 3 days rest if he gets called up and I'd prefer him as a top prospect and only 24, to get as many quality starts in the minors before calling him up in either late August or September.

and still, do you honestly trust him in high leverage situations? we need to have a veteran lefty loogy. especially in his division.

against the great lefties in htis division tank has been bad against mcann, he WAS awful against delgado when he was playing, and utley has hit him well. the only guy he has fared well against is ryan howard, and even then he has walked him 4 times in 11 total plate appearences.

he is ok, but i just cant trust him in big situations, much like most of the bullpen.

when it is high leverage situations. its not a hissy fit, its called watching the f***ing games and not relying on stats to make judgements. its like pinto.

Tankersly may be a good guy to face lefties, but being that he needs to be able to more here right now that he fails absolutely and completely miserably, he's still another component of a defective bullpen.

Honestly, he may be a loogy, but there aren't many teams out there that have the luxury of having a guy in the bullpen who can be burned on just one batter. If he were even mildly passable at pitching to righties, you could give him an entire inning facing mostly lefties. But if a guy can only pitch to one batter an appearance, he might as well be useless. I can't blame the manager for that one.

ummmmm, no he wouldnt. he pitched last night. he would have an extra day of rest.

Damn my bad I spaced out. But either way an extra days rest could be just as bad for a pitcher. Just keep him down in NOLA so he can get more quality starts and innings and call him up in late August or September if anything.

I dare you to find a veteran LOOGY that was available this past offseason for the minimum.

We had our chance a few years ago to resign Arthur Rhodes for 2 years and $3 million, our owner didn't pony up the dough. We don't have any lefties in the minors capable of being LOOGY's (although we are building Rasmussen to become one), and in free agency there were no cheap available options. We were stuck in a no win situation. The lefties we had were Pinto and Tankersley, and now we have Tank alone.

It's a sh*t situation, but there really isn't anything you can do now. We had our chance to fix that problem two years ago, our owner failed us. You can cry all you want, but Tank has done well against lefties. Whether he has had success in high leverage situations is another story (I don't have the numbers), but we were cash strapped. Either we find a team next offseason that is willing to trade one, or we try to find a diamond in the rough next year. Until then, Tank is our only lefty in the 'pen.

Pinto was above average in high leverage situations and when inheriting runners and stats are very important, because what if you don't watch a guy play for a week and do well or terribly when he's actually good or bad...

Most stats don't lie....

It's the same thing.

Not to mention, we'd have to give something up for Taylor Tankersley version 2.0.

Beimel can't get right-handed hitters out either. People on here would hate him, if they hate Tankersley.

He's solid but a .258 BAA against lefties is not exactly great for a LOOGY. He's also very hittable so if he doesn't get the lefty out it's pretty much the same thing as Tank.

There are statistics for high leverage situations, to be fair.

The 10th inning was Hensley's 11th inning in 11 days.

Today was his 8th game in 11 days.

Edwin is absolutely running him into the ground

And lost in this was Badenhop having a nice outing, hopefully he can be the reliever of last year.
