no he doesnt. hes a f***ing choker. i dont care wwhat the numbers say, you just cant ever feel comfortable with him in the ball game in a high leverage situation.

What's so high leverage about getting 1 or 2 lefties out?

It would help if his defense made a play for him once in a while as well.

Also whenever you're done throwing this hissy fit we can start talking serious baseball not, "he's a f***ing choker. i don't care wwhate the numbers say".

when it is high leverage situations. its not a hissy fit, its called watching the f***ing games and not relying on stats to make judgements. its like pinto.

Pinto was above average in high leverage situations and when inheriting runners and stats are very important, because what if you don't watch a guy play for a week and do well or terribly when he's actually good or bad...

Most stats don't lie....

That's not all that true.

Pinto's better, career wise, in low leverage situations.

In his career, opposing batters have a .377 .OBP against Pinto in high leverage situations. That's pretty terrible.

Tankersley, on the other hand, has been better in high leverage situations than he has been in low leverage situations.

The 10th inning was Hensley's 11th inning in 11 days.

Today was his 8th game in 11 days.

Edwin is absolutely running him into the ground

And lost in this was Badenhop having a nice outing, hopefully he can be the reliever of last year.

Yeah we really should have gone Leo in the 10th with all the work Clay has been getting or if anything Veras can come in.

Badenhop did very well, but in the GT he was getting bashed for walking Huff (smart move, he's been mashing the ball) and pitched to Posey, Uribe and Sandoval who all got bad swings and grounded out weakly.

We need him to do well for the rest of the season and next season.

Edwin might be running Hensley into the ground, but there is simply no other person who can pitch the innings he's been pitching. Sanches, Veras & everyone else who has tried has also failed miserably.

And if he was a FA at the end of the season I wouldn't give two shits. But he's still going to be on our team next year and we're out of the race. The last thing we need to do is destroy a valuable bullpen arm for 2011.

I think we're out of the race now, but I actually think the last two games were the deciding factor. If we had beaten the Giants, we'd actually be in very respectable position. That's why I think it was important to win or lose this game with the only guy who has proven capable of pitching where he was pitching. Yes, we could have burned Nunez, but we batted first so even if he holds them and we get a lead, Veras and Sanches couldn't be counted on to hold that.

was @ the game. i put my rally cap on in the 2nd f***ing inning. took a little while to kick in. HELL of a game. Uggla's the best. i was talking to this ticket lady who said she was talking to Dan's parents last night and they were sooo happy. it was nice to hear

We are not out of the race. Near it. Need to win this afternoon...then take Padres series. Never know what will happen in August.

If team is clearly out by Sept, shut him down then. Then shut down Hanley and Gaby just to piss off Uggla, and watch him drive in RBI's and HR's at a insane pace.:cool

it's almost the end of july. we can't get above .500 and our bullpen + defense are awful. we're out of the race.

I'm telling ya, this "mission" thing is both hysterical and awe-inspiring. I'm actually going to be a bit disappointed when he hits his next homer.

i really dont want anybody in this rotation who cant go deep into ballgames any game they pitch in. what is the point of being in the rotation then? especially vanden hurk who everybody knows can be a great reliever but for some reason he just doesnt click when he comes out of the pen.

Pick you're poison.

A guy who's pitched in the MLB many times before and has shown he can go at least 5 innings almost every start

or

A 21 year old who was rushed into the starting role at the MLB Level and hasn't gone more then 4.1 innings in a start and is on an 80 pitch limit.

Vanden Hurk it is!

Sanabia went 5.1 in his first MLB win on July 18th but your point remains.

Does anyone have an idea when or if West will be ready by this season? I know he had a great start yesterday (and Vandenhurk had a great game today) and I know that the organization was trying to get him to go longer into games after his injury. He went 9 innings yesterday so him going deep into games doesn't seem like it's an issue with his arm though he did have some crappy games before his CG yesterday so maybe they're looking for consistency? Just wondering.

I loved pissed off Uggla. Of course he may very well be playing for a new contract with the Marlins, but whatever is the case, I like it.

Don't worry. They will win today in a way that will make everyone "believe" again, get back to .500, and be right on track for...............

81-81 !!! :cool

The more I think about this I cant help but crack up. If they end up 81-81 Id probably die of laughter, youd have to have my smile surgically removed from my face. Not that I'd enjoy it, but it'd just be the most hilarious way this season could end.

It is funny, last week Sanabia pitch a very good game and we were reading how good he is, last night a bad game, he sucks, come on guys make up your minds, and stop beening a weather vane.

Yesterday after the walkoff Waltz was talking about the runner on first (Schierholtz ?) not touching 2nd as if that was a big deal. I'm not sure why it would be. However, it looked like Fredi Sanchez high fived Rowand prior to Rowand touching home plate and if that's the case then Rowand probably should have being called out. I'm not sure what the rules say.

He's shown good potential and will be good in the future but there was no doubt that he was rushed.

It's just too bad that sharp grounder to third violated Murphy and his family. That ball had DP or even at least the out at first written on it, and in the end Rich wouldn't have to worry about such a minuscule detail.

Well I'd think since he's been great at times at the MLB Level that the F.O. would want him to stay and get as many quality starts he possibly could in the minors before recalling him, he's done pretty well with a sub par start here and there but overall he's been very good since the injury.

I just feel it would be smart to call up an older RVH to replace Sanabia in the rotation for the reasons I stated above and the fact that they are on the same day of the rotation and he wouldn't be pitching with less or extra rest.

I wouldn't really mind though which one of the two they call up but I will be pissed if the don't call either or them.

I think the ball bounced into the stands so it'd be a ground-rule double. I'm not sure if the high-five thing impacts that, but assuming all the runners advance two bases automatically, it still would have clinched the game even if the lead runner was called out (the guy on 2nd still would have scored).

I had the San Fran feed and the announcers mentioned that the Marlins infielders were on the field barking about the runner not talking second base. I'm guessing that's what Waltz was talking about.

However, like you, I have no idea why that would even matter. It confused the hell out of me when I heard it.

I wonder why the Giants only won by one run then.
