July 29, 201016 yr I mean a great comeback but once donnie hit that 3 run home run you knew the torres home run would kill us. The bad hop was the dagger in the heart and weve lost two huge games in very bad fashion. i am also having my doubts about hensley staying in the 8th but im not sure if we have anyone better.
July 29, 201016 yr Nice comeback....sucks that Rent groundball took a wicked hop....tough loss even though they came back from 7 down. Starting pitching killed in this one...the bullpen wasn't all that bad.
July 29, 201016 yr The lack of getting men home from 3rd w/less than 2 outs makes me angrier than anything. Win tomorrow, split the series and get back to .500 and hope for the best.

Are you a psychic? It seems like on every post-game thread, you seem to tell us that you "just knew it was going to happen." It's not impressive since you always say it after the result, but it really makes me wonder. :mis2
July 29, 201016 yr I think people are forgetting that there was a great comeback effort. In all the posts I read of people complaining about losing it in the 10th, people seem to lose sight of the fact we shouldn't have even been in that game in the first place. Sanabia sucks. Teams shouldn't be in games where they give up 7 runs in the first 2 innings. The offense has been cold most of July. I see this loss as more of a positive than many people think it is, due to the fact that I see the offense beginning to get their act together, and a leader that we have lacked this entire year with Hanley faltering, has finally emerged in Dan Uggla. Yes, we're 7.5 games back and unlikely to take the wild card, but that doesn't mean we should give up trying to think about winning each and every game we can. The only thing we should do is trade Cantu. Everything else should stay put. I see a positive future in this lineup, and the bullpen will always be an unknown year to year, this just happened to be a year where the darts didn't stick to the dartboard. Morrison is the right kind of bat for this lineup, we finally have that power back in the lineup, and once we can find that consistent 3-5 starters who can each give us 6 innings on most nights, we will truly be contenders. We aren't far away at all.
July 29, 201016 yr i am so f***ing sick of seeing our best f***ing relievr not in the game at all when we really need it. put him in in the bottom of the 10th. wtf are you savng him for if you cant get there? if we had any type of bullpen, any at all, we would be like 10-15 games over .500. Also, get rid of Cody ross. I am so f***ing sick of seeing him do absolutely nothing but strike out and get jammed and pop up. go with the youth movement and bring up ceda, west, maybin and get a loogy like beimel at the deadline while getting rid of sanabia, cody, cantu, and tank.

July 29, 201016 yr -This Series = All Giants player becomes Fish Killers. -Why did Edwin hesitate that Nunez comes in extra or tie-game? I don't understand. - Just Lose, so our season is almost done. - Alex Sanabia = Graham Taylor ver. 2 (Accident Push from FO, make him a disposable pitcher.) BTW, Morrison collected career first rbi and multi-hit game. Congrat.

We aren't far away at all. there is no positive in losing. there are things you do well but there is never a positive in losing. i cant wait until we bring up dominguez either next year or 2012 just for his defense more than anything. i could care less if he ever gets a hit. marlins fans truly were so spoiled in 2003 with luis castillo, d-lee, gonzo, mike lowell, JP, and pudge. but i agree, we arent that far away at all. we really would hve been contenders if we didnt wait until july. im positive we all saw that we clearly had an awful bullpen back in may too. every year we wait until the last day to make a deal when we would clearly be buyers if we made the right moves in may.

You're right but to add on another move we need to make is calling up Vanden Hurk to replace Sanabia in the rotation. We just need to keep winning all the games we can and if means playoff or not well only the baseball gods can control that. If anything I'd love to finish the season at something close to 88-74.

July 29, 201016 yr Yeah it was a great come back and Hanley had a nice hit to start the rally in the 9th. Hopefully he is coming back around. Logan has such a sweet easy swing and looks good at the plate. We got screwed on that bad hop to Murphy in the 10th. I still am not giving up hope that we can make a run. This is baseball and anything can happen. We need to trade Cantu and Helms whether the FO thinks were contenders or not.

BTW, Morrison collected career first rbi and multi-hit game. Congrat. They are the same in the fact that they we're called early up and thrown in the fire but the main differences are that Taylor was 25 and Sanabia is only 21 and Taylor had been in AA for a year already for pretty much a year and a half but Sanabia had only half a season in AA and is a bigger prospect. Same thing with Marinez getting called up, it just doesn't make any sense.

July 29, 201016 yr The offense had a great comeback, but I think most of us expect the offense to be pretty good. It's the exception when they are not. But we lost this game because of a weakness in starting pitching and a weakness in the bullpen (Veras & Sanches are not set-up men and Hensley cannot pitch every crucial non-closer inning), and those aren't changing. It's not lack of optimism, it's simple reality. This team's offense has been one of the toughest to count out since the core was assembled in 2006. But that fighting spirit has never been able to overcome inherent weaknesses in the way this team was built. I don't know why that should be any different when we have a fairly mediocre pitching staff overall, and also dug ourselves a huge hole by the FO's absolutely terrible construction of a bullpen and bench.
July 29, 201016 yr eh..i would rather they had lost 9-2...I'm regretting buying tickets to next week's game...this team is painful to watch and the FO could care less

IF cody isnt going to hit hr's, then for THIS team he really isnt very helpful.

Vanden Hurk never did learn how to go deep in ballgames, but other than that his numbers weren't bad last year, and that Nate Robertson was brought in to also not go deep in games, yet do so without any high-end pitching ability like Vanden Hurk has, is simply quite a head scratcher.
July 29, 201016 yr next season i want to see us add a middle-back of the rotation veteran pitcher who has proved something at this level, a few solid bullpen arms, and a lefty, non hit and miss guy off the bench. its really just a fewpieces away but they are major pieces that are keping us from making that next step
