Last 9 gs, Stanton hits 1-for-32 (.031)

I think he must need some rest, but Edwin didn't take an action before this game.

It's weird.

I think he's fine physically. He just needs to start seeing the ball better again. He actually had a nice swing in his last AB tonight, though he didn't quite get all of it and it was caught.

But he looked horrific in the AB previous.

ups and downs... so is the life of a 20 year old. his ups are insane and his downs are brutal. he'll be fine

I mean, he's swinging at absolutely everything. He was bound to make some contact eventually.

I think he needs to sit one or two games out next series. He has looked atrocious lately and is now starting to get visibly frustrated after AB. His 3 pitch strike out today was one of the worst I've seen from him. Neise threw the same exact pitch 3 times and Mike swung at all three pathetically.

I agree.

I think Stanton will come around

When I was 20 I was batting .000

think about it.

I'll show Stanton how to get it done on a consistent basis next year...

May 31. Also 7 runs. Also in the 6th. Against Milwaukee. We won 13-6. 7 runs in an inning is the season high.

What the hell... the headline on the Marlins site is about us suddenly being decently into the wild card race again.

I'm not raising anyone's hopes at all... but its amazing how baseball is. I truly love this sport more than anyother. Even when you think you're completely out of it, u can wake up one morning after a few lucky breaks, and suddenly find yourself somewhat "in it." What a game.

We're 7-3 in the last 10 games. No other team in the NL is better than 7-3.

Our WC competitors are 4-6 (PHL,) 3-7 (STL,) 4-6 (SFG,) which explains why we gained a little ground, but two are 6-4 (LAD, COL.)

Our problem remains that we have to win not 70%, but at least 75% of ALL of our remaining games to win 91 games, and even that might not do it. We can lose but 7 or 8 or 9 games the rest of the year, or we're done, which means we're virtually certainly already done.

Anything is possible in baseball, but a 2% chance means it ain't likely and only brings to mind the 20-odd blown saves this year.

I know some people are thinking that we might be in the race still, but I'm not going to think about it. We'll just see how it goes. I'm hoping we win the series against the Braves and the Nats..sweep if possible :crossfingers that'd be great to see. I'm just looking forward to next year with guys like Logan and Stanton up. It's going to be fun next year. Let's hope the remaining season will be fun as well! We did pretty well against the Mets, and I want to see our offense continue. Our pitching is always a concern because on any one given night, someone else is faultering (whether it's our starting pitching or bullpen). There were a lot of games that we should have won this year that our bullpen ruined. I wonder where we'd be in the race had those games gone our way.

Speaking of the Braves series and the bullpen. We have Volstad pitching tonight and you never know how he'll be pitching. Then Saturday, you have Ricky trying to pitch (if things go well) and you know that's going to turn into a bullpen game. Then Sunday we have JJ and let's hope that he'll have a good outing. And considering how our luck is at Turner Field and how well the Braves are playing, this will be a tough series for us.

And there is the small matter of the Braves 44-17 home record......
