Posted October 3, 201014 yr I personally think he was legitimately badly injured. Some people may not, and there may be skepticism with his teammates about whether he is seriously injured given his history. Give your opinions.
October 3, 201014 yr I have no reason to believe that it's not what they said it was. I'm not that unnecessarily cynical.
October 3, 201014 yr I can't make a definitive yes or no answer, but I'm definitely a least a little skeptical
October 3, 201014 yr Author I can't make a definitive yes or no answer, but I'm definitely a least a little skeptical  Exactly the point I'm trying to make. It's not as much a question of whether he's got a major or minor injury, this is skepticism based on prior history. Teammates of his have got to have the same skepticism we've got.
October 3, 201014 yr His season average was over .300 for 12 days before his injury. He then took a week off, tried to play again, and then shut it down for the rest of the year. Check the game logs. It wasn't "just as he reached .300", and he actually tried to come back and finish the season off. There's absolutely nothing to this, unless you believe him to be dumb enough to not have realized he was batting .300 for two weeks prior to having hatched his grand plan. This is utterly ridiculous. Close this thread.
October 3, 201014 yr I have Hanley's wincing face burned into my brain. Seemed like he was in pain for most of the season. So no I don't think he was exaggerating the injury. Yeah, I remember that. He said today that he had been playing with his elbow hurt for half of the season and given his face, I believe it.
October 4, 201014 yr I believe it was legit too. He seemed like he really wanted to play and was hurt.
October 4, 201014 yr Hopefully a nice long rest in the offseason will lead to us seeing the 30 HR Hanley once again. He has to lead us to the playoffs next season.
October 4, 201014 yr I am not sure Hanley has really been healthy from the All Stars game and he was just getting worse...Could he have played if the Marlins were in a Pennant race? Likely he could have but the best decision was to shut him down
October 4, 201014 yr With the Marlins crack medical staff he probably played the whole season with a broken arm :banghead
October 4, 201014 yr I have no reason to deny him... but I'll give u one piece of evidence that you can take as you will... that huge gray elbow brace he wore the last month or so... either thats your proof of injury... or a great prop for him to plan his late September disappearance a month in advance. I say he's being honest here though
