dim
#Marlins contemplated a multiple-player three team trade but backed off this afternoon, Beinfest said. No details I'm told the #Rangers and #Rockies r the teams that had been involved with #Marlins on multi-player deal that the Marlins r backing off of http://twitter.com/joecapmarlins
Admin
Have to think it has to do with the rumored Michael Young to Rockies talks but I wonder what our part in it was.
dim
You also should assume either Ricky Nolasco or Leo Nunez was involved, probably would've gone to the Rangers. Sounds like prospects would've gone to the Marlins, just not sure which ones at the moment.
Anonymous
Who were we interested in?
Erick
I would imagine that the Rockies wanted Michael Young, and the Rangers wanted Nolasco.
Erick
My guess is... COL receives: Michael Young TEX receives: Ricky Nolasco FLA receives: Julio Borbon (TEX), Rex Brothers (COL)
canada-marlin24
ummm thank god that trade didnt go through......no thanks the rangers can keep borbon if thats who it was. Clark Spencer confirmed it was Nolasco and Nunez in the talks. Im pretty surprised the Marlins want to all of a sudden deal Nolasco.
97marlin
yeah, if it was borbon and brothers, i'm kind of happy we backed off.
Erick
It's just a guess on my part. And if that would have been the actual deal, it's really not as bad as you're all making it sound.
Anonymous
Whatever it was, we should find out eventually.
Erick
Im pretty surprised the Marlins want to all of a sudden deal Nolasco. Who says they want to deal him? If they wanted to deal him, they would have dealt him. They've just said they're willing to listen. He's more than likely staying put. And if that would have been the actual deal, it's really not as bad as you're all making it sound. borbon is a solid player but he hasnt proven much yet. Borbon put up a .376 .OBP in '09 in the big leagues, and has all the tools to be a very good defensive CF'er. Brothers is one of the best left-handed reliever prospects in baseball. What are you expecting to get for Ricky Nolasco? Shaun Marcum returned just one top 50 prospect to the Blue Jays. That's a good comparison to the return we'd get for Nolasco...probably less, considering Nolasco hasn't pitched in the AL East, while Marcum has. Fish4Life
Nolasco was heading to the Rockies -Per Juan C. Rodriguez

They weren't close to anything; they were talking. Ricky Nolasco isn't Josh Johnson; he's not an untouchable, if the Marlins can be overwhelmed. Fish4Life
3-team trade was with #Rangers and #Royals. Not sure other pieces. PB Post said Nolasco, Nunez involved in diff 3-team deal. #Marlins #MLB The different one was probably the one with the Rockies
Erick
I hope the details on this are going to come out. No way we just rejected Grienke, if the return wasn't way more significant than Nolasco/Nunez.

MORE #Royals #MLB Wow! Now that's some news. Unlike the Upton talks, I'm 100% willing to include Morrison in any talks that would land us Greinke, although that does cause some questions about the lineup and our outfield would be in question (in this scenario, Coghlan to LF, Bonifacio to CF, and Dominguez to 3B in all likelihood). dom2613
Please let this happen. Not in my wildest dreams did I ever see us even having a chance to get Grienke. He does like small market though and were pretty small.
Marlins97+03WC
With Greinke, we would have two cy young contenders in our rotation, plus one who is not far off from a cy young year (Javier). That would be sick. And I forgot Anibal...
