Posted February 25, 201114 yr So let me get this straight. The MLB is basically splitting opening day into two days. Six games on thursday and another 10 games on Friday. I'll let ONE night game the day before opening day slide, then the rest of the teams play in the next day. But this might have just ruined opening day for me.
February 25, 201114 yr iiiii don't know what you're saying. but i am pissed "opening day" is a night game
February 25, 201114 yr Author Not a very complicated concept. 12 Teams open up on Thursday March the 31st, the rest start on April 1st, instead of all starting on the same day.
February 25, 201114 yr The last 2 years hasn't the previous years WS winner opened up on ESPN the night before opening day or 2 night before? Last year the Yanks opened up on ESPN vs Bos and the year before Philly opened vs Atl at night. Right?
February 25, 201114 yr I've been pissed ever since they took the tradition away from Cincinnati. If the current owners have proven anything, it is that tradition is meaningless to them,
February 25, 201114 yr I don't see what the big deal is. I don't care when it is, I just want to be there when JJ throws that first pitch.
February 25, 201114 yr Whether it be in the afternoon or at night, JJ will be making each Mets hitter wishing they were never born.
February 26, 201114 yr I don't care when we play as long as it gets underway already ! I am antsy !!!! :thumbup

Cincinnati was the first professional baseball team, up until the mid-to late1990's or so played the very first game of the year, then baseball saw an opportunity to make more money and sent teams overseas to open the season or would open with the previous years champs on ESPN.

February 27, 201114 yr OH HAIÂ Â I'm a very big fan of Opening Night (and I consider myself a traditionalist). Breaking up all the other games into 2 days will definitely feel weird but I'm willing to give it a chance.
February 27, 201114 yr Author Aren't the opening games at 1:05PM on Friday? Detroit @ NYY and Atlanta @ Washington?
