mystikol87
Unreal. Chad Pennington tears ACL Associated Press MIAMI -- Hard-luck quarterback Chad Pennington tore an anterior cruciate ligament in a pickup basketball game and will undergo surgery next week. Pennington's agent, Tom Condon, said in a news release Thursday that Pennington will have the operation April 7 and well-known surgeon Dr. James Andrews will perform it. The release did not say which knee Pennington injured. AFC East blog The former Jets and Dolphins quarterback is now a free agent. The 34-year-old Pennington twice has been selected the NFL Comeback Player of the Year, but he lasted just two plays last season with the Dolphins before hurting his right shoulder again. He had surgery on it for the fourth time, but said he wants to try to return to the NFL this season. A shoulder injury ended Pennington's 2009 season in Week 3. Following arduous rehabilitation, he began 2010 as a backup to Chad Henne, then made his season debut in the ninth game when he started against Tennessee. But he had to leave the game after only two snaps with a dislocated shoulder and torn capsule. Pennington's career completion percentage of 66.0 is the highest in NFL history among quarterbacks with at least 1,500 attempts. In 2008, his one full season starting for the Dolphins, Pennington led them to their only playoff berth since 2001. He led the Jets to the playoffs in 2002, 2004 and 2006. dim
yea wow a real idiot. unless you are a basketball player. DONT PLAY BASEKETBALL IN THE OFFEASON!! So what? Do you want him sitting in a room, not move at all for 6 months so as to not get injured? People play basketball. He could've gotten injured cutting an apple, closing a sliding glass door, or tripping over his gym bag. People get injured all the time, do you want to stop athletes from doing absolutely everything not related to their sport in the offseason? (BTW, all those weird injuries I mentioned have actually happened).

JetsMania
They should require all contacts to include a hibernation clause. That will solve these problems.
