You guys are unbelieveable, this present organization has a great track record on trades. Don't they???? I believe Millar was the only screw-up. I've had made doubts about Beinfest in the past BUT IMO the Marlins stole Choi from the Cubs. I understand the casual fan question the unknown but this was the Cubs top hitting prospect the last 3yrs and one of the top 10 in all of baseball. The PTNL(remember Levinski and A Nunez) is a low Single A pitcher. Thats what the rumors through the grapeline say. I just going to say is Lee worth 7.5-8million a yr.? I told those that wanted to listen that the O's deal fell apart because of Bautista. The Marlins weren't confident in Matt Riley history of arm problem and the certain piece of the trade. The O's basically wanted Lee for Riley and a low minor leaguer( no Bautista or Maine)

The millar deal wasent a screw up. We would have never gotten redman in not for the millar sell because it was not really a trade. The replace for millar was a screw but then again Beinfest fixed that problem by calling up Cabrera. I agree with everything else.

D. Lee was going to the Orioles if he would've worked out a contract extension to his liking. MLB doesnt allow a player to negotiate w/ another team unless a trade has been reached tentatively.

This guy hitted 51 HR on the road for the last two years in a little over 160 games. Call me crazy, but I think he is capable of hitting that for the Cubs in 2004.

damn imagine my surprise when i logged on and received my email saying Lee to the CUBS. i like the fact that Choi is a lefty hitter, struggled last year but he's still only 24 and it gives us an extra $7 mill use elsewhere. for those trashing this because of Choi's stats this season. lets not forget the disastrous season Lee had in '99 when he was in his 2nd season at the age of 24

I wouldn't say we got the better end of any of the trades Beinfest has made. Short-term, yes, and while we can't tell yet what comes out in the long term or who the PTBNL might be it's fair to say that it atleast does not hint to favor us.

 

edit: But I do think that this is the best we could have gotten for Lee. But prior to the breakdown between Lee and O's, I think he had a higher trade value.

He has a great glove and is one of the biggest Koreans I've ever seen. He has power to all fields, but predominately left center. Remains to be seen who the minor league PTBN later is. I doubt Jim Hendry will let any more pitchers come this way after Dontrelle and Cueto.

I disagree on the weaken of our farm system, our farm system was and is to some degree overflowing with prospects which we don't know about.

If I heard correctly its a low level single A pitcher, I doubt its LHP Justin Jones as one guy I talk to said today hearing about the PTNL but knowing how they love lefties it could be a lefty
