November 26, 200322 yr let me get this strait ramp...7mill for a gold glove winner who hit 270. 31HR 94 rbi is to much but Pudge who did not win gold glove his 295. 16 hr 85 Rbi and is commanding 10 mill a year or a lil less is worth it? Explain that to me? there is no explanation and dont come up with leader or w/e .a leader isnt worth 2 or 3 mill I guess you didn't watch the play offs. . .
November 26, 200322 yr Author that was his first time in the post season and with the experience he gained there he will be better next year ..when the cubs are there with him
November 26, 200322 yr If we could've kept Lee for $3 or 4 million less, I would've been all for it. Hell, if I had the pockets of Steinbrenner, re-signing Lee at $7 mil. would've been a no-brainer. However, neither of those scenarios describe us. Ya gotta do what ya gotta do....
November 26, 200322 yr well get ready for firesale number 2 if they plan on gettin rid of all those ppl they have a payroll supposebly of 60mill then wheres to dinero at? November 26, 200322 yr Hey ramp..can u ever be not so opinionated...this team is built around speed defense and pitching!! and lee can run and play D.And yes Miami15 was right he is the ultimate marlin who stuck with it in those horrible years for 7 mill these days with this market he is well worth it im my opinion..id rather have him for 7 mill than pudge for the 8 or 9 he wants..u can quote that.I love Lee and did everthing right! the cubs just got a whole lot better! yea he was the ultimalte marlin. I remember all the bad remarks he made when Floyd was trade how he wanted out too. Im going to miss that loyal marlin. BTW: pudge is worth it because he's a future HOF who can still play. He also plays great D has a great arm calls a good game and could hit which is a bonus specially if they are HOF numbers.
November 26, 200322 yr Hey ramp..can u ever be not so opinionated... Don't listen to them! And DurableTear... don't believe for a second that Beckett is better than Prior. Or ever will be. :ban

I'm not causin trouble. ARGUING BASEBALL IS FUN! You wanna have a debate about the great Mark Prior that we torched in the 8th inning of the NLCS? against Josh Beckett the man that shut the Cubbies down in Game 5 and 7. Bring it.
November 26, 200322 yr Derrek Lee is a great player, and a great man. I will root for him (and no other Cubs) to get a hit, even when we play them. And can you say "Preston Wilson in '03 = Lee in '04."

And can you say "Preston Wilson in '03 = Lee in '04." Sorry, but it's against my moral, logical, and religious beliefs to ever root for a cub to do well.
November 26, 200322 yr I am going to miss Lee in that black and teal. Its not going to be the same with out him holding down first base. But I think it was the best for the team because this allows us to keep more important parts of the team. Also I dont think he would have improved much more unless he played in a hitters park or at least no PPS. Exactly. Lee was not going to improve much more - at least not to the height of his paycheck. Not here. He is a class act and will be missed in that regard, but Choi is a solid prospect who actually may be better offensively. I think this is a very shrewd move by Beinfest.
November 26, 200322 yr Author dont like it one bit..i understand we not not afford him but i cant stand ppl sayin yea its a good deal..no it wasnt we gave up a hell of a player for an unproven biatch. Theres only so far potential can take u and i think choi will be a flop
