But it's a far cry from what it was before MLK. Never been a fan of this argument. It's better than before doesn't make it good. What, you want things to be perfect? Things will never be perfect. Be grateful with what you've got and continue to strive for a better tomorrow. There is no "best" tomorrow, and racism certainly wont vanish in a little over a generation after hundreds of years of existence. Be real. We've come a long way since the 60s. We will continue to advance, but to think that things aren't good right now is unfair. You cannot expect perfection. I don't know how you managed to misconstrue a post that was barely a sentence long, but why don't you go back and tell me where I mentioned the word perfection. Secondly, please don't tell me to be grateful for what we have. Not only does that line of thought breed complacency, but I don't have to be grateful for my civil rights, which is what MLK was all about. You know, rights that should be inherent to everyone. I mean, think about it: You're telling me, "Count your lucky stars you can vote." "Be grateful you can attend schools with white children." "Be grateful you can sit where you want on bus" Thanks.

You implied that leaders like him are the problem - which is certainly partially true, but offered no balance. Nobody in this thread described you as a racist, but you indicated people other places have. I indicated that you run close to racism with "...value judgments based upon superficial physical appearance factors." People that are unwilling to give you the benefit of the doubt may very well judge your motives. I agree that Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton are race baiters - but there are indeed white race baiters, but typically idiots like David Duke are ostracized.
